F-150 Lightning Platinum (Iconic Silver) & Lariat (Rapid Red) Spotted On Public Roads

Some new, showroom-look F-150 Lightning Tool-Trial builds have begun running on public roads, suggesting that the electric F-series is on track toward production.

Our visual proof comes in two prototypes, an Iconic Silver-hued F-150 Lightning Platinum, and a Rapid Red-colored Lightning Lariat. The prototypes are the most production-finished trucks we’ve seen to date, including the Lightning’s unique badging.

Can you confirm which color the first truck is? Post title says Iced Blue Silver but text in post says Iconic Silver. Whatever it is, I really like it! As a current owner of a Ruby Red, though, that Rapid Red is going to be hard to pass up!

That red truck is a preproduction I've seen in promotional event pictures several times. Either that or they are building them all with a slightly misaligned front light bar where it meets the deiver side headlight. ?

I've noticed the same issue. How have they not fixed it by now!?!?!?!!

Anyone else find it odd that the Platinum doesn't have Platinum on the tailgate like the other platinums?

I believe these are still pre-production...not production. The pre-production trucks don't necessarily follow all the rules of trim levels.

When Ford switched to an aluminum body for the F150 in 2015, I wonder if they had an all electric F150 in mind and the benefits of the vehicle being lighter because the battery is so heavy.

Just a thought.

Instead of just one, Ford should have put a charging port on both sides on the front of the vehicle.

They designed the Mach E in the same way.

Darren Palmer said that in an interview I watched from a link in this forum. They knew they would need a truck that was lighter to accomodate the weight of batteries down the road...

Iconic Silver it is

I really like that American flag emblem on the tailgate, hadn’t noticed that before.

The wheels dont do it for me. I also don't really care for the front end either. Something about the lack of grill and the LED trim around the headlights/grill just looks kinda... cheap, like a plastic toy truck or something.

Glad to see the Lightning driving on public streets, the Platinum is a good looking truck.
