Updated with details:

Don’t see how this is anything but a staged video…and a pretty pathetic one at that. I have a Lightning and a Y and had a S for 100K. This doesn’t happen by accident……. Lame.
We also own a model Y. I agree I have no idea how this happened, but I was able to help him avoid a tow - It’s my video. I was driving down the highway and saw this guy pulling a generator out of another car to charge up his dead 3. I was about 5 mins from my house so I grabbed my ford charger and doubled back. Unfortunately the car was so dead it wouldn’t even take a charge. Kept throwing errors to replace the 12v battery. So I jumped the 12v and then it started charging! Sat there for about an hour for the Tesla to finally show 13 miles - enough to get to the super charger.

Nice work with the roadside rescue, so would it be prudent for the Tesla owner to replace the aged/defective LVB in this situation, or will it revive at the SC station while the cars traction battery is charged?

It’s probably a good idea to replace that 12v battery. It’s also a good idea for us to all have jump boxes in the cars with us. I know this plagued the Ionic 5 and others for a while with dying 12v batteries and couldn’t start the car.

I was worried when he got to the super charger it would need to be jumped again but he texted me it started charging no problem. Maybe this was an issue because he drained the battery down so low and it sat over night in cold weather.

Thanks for the additional Details. I did see the front cowling popped off and was curious about why that was. Good roadside samaritans are pretty rare these days, that was sure a nice thing you did for someone in a bind, good karma your way I hope.

I carry this in my frunk...mainly to troll my Tesla friends, but always willing to help an EV owner out.

It is the mobile charger that came with my truck with an adapter to the 240 V Pro Power and a J1772 to Tesla adaptor.

If not staged... That Tesla's 12V battery is toast if it was throwing errors and needed a jump.

I assume this works because the Tesla can limit its charge rate? If you plugged that into another Lightning and it asked for 40amps, it would pop the breaker right?

it's a 32A charger, that's the max it will let the Tesla request or negotiate for. Not sure what would happen if a 40A charger was plugged in to the Lightning... 40A @ 240V is right at the 9.6kW limit, assuming no other overhead on the Pro Power system.

Pro power can only deliver 7.2kW to the 240v outlet but apparently the Ford Mobile Charger is actually 30amp max (not 32) which maxes out the 240v outlet.

Are the various outlets rated to deliver their full power continuously? It seems to work, but I'm curious if Ford expects a continuous 7200 watt draw to work when usually we shoot for 80% of max for continuous draws.

Er... The 7.2kW ProPower in the F-150 PowerBoost can sustain 7.2kw/ 30A, no problem. Been demonstrated by quite a few different people. I have not seen anyone reviewing a Lightning with the 9.6kW onboard who pushes it to find limits.... yet...

IIRC, one of the Youtubers did an overnight test with the Lighting and another EV, forgot which, it performed without incident the entire time.
