I’ve added Diode Dynamics LEDs to my 2023 Lariat for night driving in remote, unlit areas. They’re excellent, though I use them just a few times a month. I find the OEM headlights — with the Glare-Free Lighting option engaged — do a fine job in the fog and blowing sand and rain I encounter when driving in the Outer Banks of NC.

How did you wire up the lights?

As good as the glare-free headlights are, IMHO our trucks (with glare-free) don't need front fog lights. However, I do wish we could get an OEM rear fog light option... after all, dense fog does occur in North America 🙄, and when it blankets a high speed highway the sequential collisions which can run into dozens+ are nearly unavoidable without this cheap common-sense safety device.

I write this after having wired two other Fords, a Fusion and a Mach E, since 2016 with existing Ford OEM rear fog lights.

About $250 in OEM parts (a Ford rear fog light + a Ford dash light switch) + some weekend work adding a wiring circuit to the usually present OEM module pins is sure far less expensive than getting a high speed rear collision in dense fog.

Very simple connection to the 12v system and basic toggle switches installed in the first open space below and to the left of the steering column. I had to do some shopping around for the right combination and configuration of brackets and theft-deterrent nuts and bolts.

Agree. The glare free lights are first-rate in the fog. I’d love to see a photo of your rear fog lights.

On the Fusion and the Mach E, I have photos. On the F150, unfortunately as I just found out after digging around for 12 months, there are none yet...

THE LONGER STORY: Rear fog lights, mandated for safety in several Euro countries before the creation of the EU, became an all-EU requirement at the EU's creation just like our curved right mirrors became an all-USA requirement back 50+ years ago.

Ford produces components for homologated large market requirements such as the EU market. Unfortunately, at this time the only Euro countries with a significant F150 market presence in Europe are Norway and Switzerland, and since neither of them is in the EU, Ford did not (yet) create the rear fog light OEM solution for the Euro market.

The normal Ford solution for a rear light control switch is to make the center of the round headlight control switch a depressive on / off button. There is an additional rear fog light yellow / orange telltale on the IPC, activated via FORScan.

For the Mach E rear fog light install and description, with pix, see the thread below. The Fusion a very popular car the world over, had an actually much easier installation because a lot of its rear fog light wiring was present, dormant.

Where did you get the mounts? I'm a believer in amber fogs, not for better visibility from the truck, but for better visibility of the truck to approaching cars in the fog. I also like the idea of a rear fog, particularly for driving in the pea soup we get in some of our mountain passes in the winter.

BTT - The mounts came from F150 LEDs, with a bit of tweaking to make them a bit more tamper- and car wash-resistant. The folks at F150 LEDs were very easy to work with.

Yeah, ...pfffft. They have PLENTEEE of big 18-wheeler rigs running around Europe... much larger than any F150 or SUV.
Those are driven by Pros that know what they are doing. Our Bus driver in Paris was flooring it through narrow streets I wouldn’t take a mini in.

Here in U.S., I was rear ended at a red light by this lady who confused the gas pedal with the break. It turned out she was driving the husband’s car because she had already totaled hers. When the daughter showed up, I found out that hitting people is a regular thing for the mom. A six thousand pound vehicle is a deadly weapon in any hands especially those that have no business driving anything larger than a bicycle. I can’t imagine that lady driving a large SUV in a European city. Unfortunately, in U.S. for many, if they want to eat, they have to drive and since everyone else has a large vehicle, they are less safe if they don’t.

There is definitely justification for some to have a full size truck. Especially if they have to transport a bunch of American size bellies. But speaking for myself, a Maverick size EV would have been more appropriate for 98% of my driving. Lightning was just the best bang for the buck for EV trucks available when I got it.
