  1. Wave 3 invites who don't order won't be cancelled; possible Pro / XLT ordering reopening

I know Ford is in a tough spot and I'm glad there are at least some conversations going on about how NOT to force reservation holders into a Lariat. I wanted a Pro, had resigned myself to an XLT and then further resigned myself to the standard range battery in order to get the tax credit. With...
  2. Ford sends out Lightning survey email - Help us plan for your F-150 Lightning Order

I told them the truth - that I also have a reservation for a Silverado EV. Don't know if that will hurt or help my cause.
  3. Ford sends out Lightning survey email - Help us plan for your F-150 Lightning Order

Me too. I selected a different series (XLT) but following that it still asked me how I would configure the Pro. Not sure if that was an error or by design.
  4. Lightning performance (acceleration) with standard vs. extended range battery

Maybe I'll go back and drive the Lariat SR again when it has a full charge and without two other people in the truck with me. I doubt it would make that big of a difference but I've been wrong before...
  5. Lightning performance (acceleration) with standard vs. extended range battery

No worries! Glad to hear we agree on the TRX. If I'm being truly honest I wouldn't consider the TRX even if it was a Ford because I am 100% sold on an electric truck as my next vehicle.
  6. Lightning performance (acceleration) with standard vs. extended range battery

Yes I realize it's a truck. Having a truck as my daily driver is an absolute requirement for reasons I'm sure nobody else would care about so I won't list them. I respectfully disagree with your opinion that the Lightning SR will be "more than fast enough" for me. The one I drove yesterday...
  7. Lightning performance (acceleration) with standard vs. extended range battery

Interesting... the truck I drove yesterday didn't nag me for staying in sport mode, at least not right away. Maybe it's an ER-only thing?
  8. Lightning performance (acceleration) with standard vs. extended range battery

So yesterday I *finally* drove a Lightning. It was a dealer mule, Lariat standard range. The performance off the line was strong, as expected but once up to speed it was underwhelming. I did have 350 extra lbs of people in the car with me, and the truck was showing only 50 miles of range left...
  9. Reservation holders for 2022 F-150 Lightning - sign in here!

Added to list, reservation made on 5/22/2021, reservation number 10911096. I was told by my dealer that I am #156 out of 489. Dealership has promised to sell for MSRP but after finding out my place in line and that they were only able to book five orders total in waves 1 and 2 I'm not expecting...
  10. what's your disappointment so far on what Ford Lightning has to offer

You know this for a fact? Were you involved with the design of the Lightning or was this just a knee-jerk response? I think that depends upon the battery chemistry. Many types don't mind being deep-discharged, or rapidly-discharged. Again, I think that depends upon the chemistry. Lead-acid...
  11. what's your disappointment so far on what Ford Lightning has to offer

Everything I've seen says that the ER battery is 500lbs heavier, not 200lbs. I share your concerns about the extra weight and my usage will be similar to yours so I don't mind being steered by Ford into ordering the SR battery. My main gripe is that with the SR battery you are giving up over...
  12. Lightning WAVE 2 Emails Coming 1/19 For Ordering on 1/20 – Per Ford Customer Service

I'm willing to wait also... it's mostly my fault as I didn't reserve until three days after opening and I am therefore #156 out of 489 at my friendly local dealership. I did have my reservation confirmed for a Silverado EV on Jan 5 at 12:03 (orders opened up at 12:00) so I should be very close...
  13. Ford's epic Lightning bait-and-switch is complete (the official "I'm out" thread).

    https://5startuning.com/product-category/2021-f150-3-5l-powerboost/ https://5startuning.com/product-category/2021-f150-3-5l-ecoboost/ You're welcome.
  14. Ford's epic Lightning bait-and-switch is complete (the official "I'm out" thread).

People need to also realize that you can't break the laws of physics. Ford has set a limit for how many Kw the battery can supply. That in turn is going to limit the acceleration of a 6,750lb truck no matter what kind of mechanical/electrical trickery is employed. I anxiously await the first...
  15. Ford's epic Lightning bait-and-switch is complete (the official "I'm out" thread).

You're kidding, right? All you need on the 2021 is 4wd, 3.5 Ecoboost, a tune and E-85. Maybe you're forgetting that a gas truck weighs 1,500lbs less than a Lightning ER? Surely a non-newbie like yourself understands the effect of weight on performance.
  16. Lightning performance (acceleration) with standard vs. extended range battery

What youtube videos? All the ones I have watched are uninstrumented drives on a test track, none of which have been that impressive nor were any at highway speeds. I accept everything you said above except for the throwing back in your seat at 90 mph part. 563hp is simply not enough to push...
  17. 80A Charge Station Pro

I have a 200-amp main panel and 100-amp subpanel in the garage. My subpanel is about 75 feet away and is fed by 2-gauge cable, which according to NEC is good to 115 amps. This setup has worked well for me for the past 15 years. There is an issue that I haven't seen talked about much yet...
  18. White House releases plan to build nationwide network of 500,000 EV chargers

I don't think Texas built wind and solar with "no thought for cold weather". I think they did what everyone else does and planned for nearly-worst-case instead of absolute-worst-case. I don't blame them for that - if they had planned for the 100-year weather event we had last year, people...
  19. Lightning performance (acceleration) with standard vs. extended range battery

Ford says the new F-150 Lightning will be the quickest truck it has ever built, but where are the stats??? I know they really want to sell the truck based upon its novel features like home backup power and the frunk, but they are leaving us performance junkies in the lurch here. There is very...
