  1. Wave 3 invites who don't order won't be cancelled; possible Pro / XLT ordering reopening

There would be less of a sour taste if Ford had actually done like Chevy and Tesla, and admitted from the get go that they would focus on selling the higher priced more profitable trims first. But they tried to have it both ways, focusing their press releases on the $40K price and bragging “all...
  2. Wave 3 invites who don't order won't be cancelled; possible Pro / XLT ordering reopening

“ But all the other kids are doing it!” Didn’t get me anywhere growing up.
  3. Wave 3 invites who don't order won't be cancelled; possible Pro / XLT ordering reopening

Indeed. Leave it to Ford to mess up something as plain and simple as “first come, first served” by only looking at this quarter’s profits instead of growing long term customer loyalty. It all starts with trust.
  4. MY23 wave 3 invites by reservation date

I think ZEV credits are on a state basis and not affected by IRA. So Ford should still give those states preference so they can get those credits.
  5. Pro & XLT trims closed already??? (As of 9/8/2022)

Someone leaked Ford’s playbook for the Lightning rollout on this forum in December, and it gave away the trim allocations for Pro and XLT at around 7% of total production each. Did they magically know that’s what people were going to want………before the very first order was placed? Or did they...
  6. Ford to reach 200K EV Quota in Weeks -- No Tax Credit Implications

Aren’t we still waiting on “guidance from treasury” and/or additional info from Ford re battery mineral sourcing requirements and battery assembly location though? Those could make or break the federal tax credit after 1/1/2023.
  7. "ELECTRIC SYSTEM DRAIN SERVICE REQUIRED" error

Don’t any of y’all know that you HAVE to completely drain the electrical system every 5000 miles? And then refill it with fresh electricity (of the proper grade) to the “full” mark on the dipstick? Sheesh!
  8. If I remove the mobile charging cable when I order...

Since you’re a penny pincher like me, also don’t forget that-I think- by purchasing the EVSE separately you should qualify for a separate tax credit that you might not get if you buy it bundled with the truck. Got 30% back when I installed mine back in 2017, for both the EVSE AND the required...
  9. If I remove the mobile charging cable when I order...

I think it’s gonna come with nothing. But you can get made in China EVSEs on eBay for $130 for a 120v sloooow one, and under $400 for a 7.2 kW 240V one. You won’t save much.
  10. Pro & XLT trims closed already??? (As of 9/8/2022)

Absolutely! And these caveats were already tossed around by some of the senior forum members when I joined here shortly after the reveal. Would have still been much appreciated if Ford had taken a bit more of a long term view re onboarding new customers vs short term profits.
  11. Pro & XLT trims closed already??? (As of 9/8/2022)

Thank you for agreeing with me that a majority of people would call Ford’s behavior here a bait and switch. As explained earlier, this would mean that it actually was one: Words have the meaning that most people agree they have.
  12. Pro & XLT trims closed already??? (As of 9/8/2022)

And how do most entries in the dictionary gain their validity? By the vast majority of English speakers agreeing that x really means x. I’d therefore challenge you to step out into the general public with a neutral description of the way Ford handled this process—-and be shocked, shocked to see...
  13. Pro & XLT trims closed already??? (As of 9/8/2022)

Very interesting! None of this was mentioned during the presentation….or any of Ford’s follow up press releases, right?!
  14. Electrical demand with more EVs on the road. Is there enough power supply for future growth?

Agree with everything, but couldn’t CA use sea water for pumped hydro? Not sure if that’s workable? The elevation difference is already there.
  15. Electrical demand with more EVs on the road. Is there enough power supply for future growth?

Nuclear? But- “I am not taking sides because I don’t know enough about it, but some of the questions to ask when you read something like that are: Where did the minerals for these (nuclear fuel rods)come from? What type of mining was done to get them? What type of energy went into the mining...
  16. Pro & XLT trims closed already??? (As of 9/8/2022)

Not so fast. Focusing almost exclusively on the price of the lowest trim in your advertising, but only selling a token few for a very short time at this price, and then only selling at almost double that price? That is the textbook definition of bait and switch. Video and LFD 81 are correct.
  17. Ford made the news in BC (Canada) and not in a good way.

Completely agreed with you, except I don’t think Tesla will honor the pricing that was announced when we put down our Benjamin for the cyber truck like forever ago.
