  1. Lightning commuter after 50K on the Mach-E

Agreed. The Lightning is a great vehicle. I’ve done several long road trips (CO-PA x2, PA-SC x 2) and a couple of thousand miles of towing a 25’ travel trailer. Except long distance towing, this truck is way better than the Cummins Ram 2500 it replaced and way cheaper to operate/ maintain. Even...
  2. Utah to require GPS tracking for EVs...

This is great. I needed new material for my conspiracy theories, since all of my other ones have come true (I never thought the UFO ones would pan out, but I guess you just never know). Isn’t that massive government data center located in Utah? No wonder they want to track us. I can see the evil...
  3. Just realized, I’ve never used my Park Assist

Wow! Your picture gave me the confidence to try it again yesterday when I needed to parallel park in a spot that was big enough, but would be tight due to vehicles on the other side of the narrow street preventing my front end from swinging too far away from the parking location on the initial...
  4. Just realized, I’ve never used my Park Assist

Ok, I didn’t think I needed to. In fact as I recall the instructions on the screen were pretty clear about how it works, but the parking speed was so quick I could believe that I missed something. In fact, I think when I hit the brakes it cancelled the park assist, but that could also have been...
  5. Trailer light control module fault and trailer brake control module fault

Just wanted to update everyone. My dealer said I need a new trailer lighting control module and we are waiting on that part. I’ll update again after it is installed and let you know if it worked.
  6. Just realized, I’ve never used my Park Assist

Maybe that was my problem—I didn’t realize I was supposed to operate the brake. Although I instinctively hit the brake when it proceeded to try and park like Bo and Luke Duke in the General Lee!
  7. Just realized, I’ve never used my Park Assist

Prepare to be scared! It does ok, but it moves the vehicle quite fast and too close for my comfort. It took a couple tries before I let it actually finish a park job without intervening, and even then I was thinking I might regret not taking over. It is better for my stress level to park the...
  8. Charging for charging

I think this is very situation dependent. How competitive is the short term rental market in your area? What are the other charging options in the area? As a renter I look for a place that makes charging available as it is a great convenience. I would choose a place with charging over a similar...
  9. Static noise during phone call

I get static with an iPhone if it is connected with a cord to the USB port in the truck. If it is not connected via USB cord then it usually works fine. So this is not only an android issue.
  10. Trailer light control module fault and trailer brake control module fault

Thank you for the replies. It is very strange that all of these trucks seem to have the same issue. It makes me believe there is a software bug out there. I will let my dealer know that this isn’t just my truck and my trailer combo (that is what they suspect). Also, it would be nice if @Ford...
  11. Trailer light control module fault and trailer brake control module fault

Prior to July of 2023 I put hundreds of miles of towing on my ER Lariat with tow package with no issues. Then in July I received 3 OTA updates. They seemed to load without issue although the one that said it was improving DCFC did have to load twice. The next time I towed my travel trailer I got...
  12. Farley & Ford Execs Traveling the American West in F-150 Lightning

I think it is important to log any issues that prevented you from charging on a particular unit as “could not charge. “ Do this even if you do eventually find a unit that allows you to charge at that location. So, for example, if I show up to a location and the first unit I approach is out of...
  13. Airstream's New Basecamp 20X REI Edition Promo Features F-150 Lightning Platinum

Here is a picture of us heading to the beach yesterday. We traveled 125 miles from our house to this EA station in Abington MD. From there it is 136 miles to our campsite near the beach. When we first started towing with the Lightning we went miles off route to get to two additional fast...
  14. Airstream's New Basecamp 20X REI Edition Promo Features F-150 Lightning Platinum

While towing with the Lightning is not convenient or quick, it is possible. I tow a 25’, 8000 lb travel trailer. The realistic range when towing something that size is 100-150 miles. I plan for 1 mi/kW, but generally see 1.3-1.5. I never tow over 65 miles/hr for tire safety, so that probably...
  15. How far have we gone? Your Lightning mileage?

22,000 miles. Including several 1000+ mile road-trips and towing a 25’ travel trailer. Took delivery in Sep 22. Issues( all covered under warranty): 1. Delaminating passenger side step 2. Active air dam motor replacement 3. Trailer light module and trailer brake control module failure (not yet...
  16. Weak Jack?

I’ve used the Jack twice: once to help a stranded motorist change a tire on a small passenger vehicle, and once to rotate the tires on my other vehicle (a multi-Jack operation). Both times I was wondering if the Jack would actually support the Lightning, and hoping I would never have to find out!
  17. Jim Farley on Cybertruck: "I make trucks for real people who do real work, and that's a different kind of truck."

Any Tesla sold in the United States by Tesla was built in the United States. Many of the components were also built in the United States. What other car company can make that claim? Maybe Rivian? I’m not sure of their supply system. As Tesla is a multinational company it is no surprise that...
  18. Jim Farley on Cybertruck: "I make trucks for real people who do real work, and that's a different kind of truck."

The Cybertruck may be more than most consider. I would get it for “real work” if it can do what is claimed and if it has onboard power similar to the Lightning. Imagine a truck that never rusts, is very difficult to dent or scratch, continually updates itself to the latest software, has credible...
  19. Triggering Battery Preconditioning via Nav System

The Tesla Supercharger may not be loaded in the Ford nav as a charger yet. Last time I passed one it did not show up with the charger symbol. Hopefully this is fixed soon so that folks can use the MagicDock and preconditioning.
  20. Seating for 6...Can it be done?

There may be some safety issues with this idea. Crash tests and airbags and crumble zones are a system solution to accident injury. Changing the fundamentals of where occupants are located in the vehicle could be a major problem.
