I don't agree. From a safety standpoint it doens't make sense to completely isolate the frame from the generator. The whole purpose of the grounding is to provide an electrical path that will keep a person from electrocution when a fault occurs. Isolating the frame denies this path.
Spoke with my dealer GM today. The Floating Neutral vs Bonded Neutral came up (eg he agreed to push Ford about it). He stated that Ford has said, to him, that they're working on it. Apparently Ford has gotten many requests to fix that. I noted that for his geographic area, there are many...
On the AC Side this is unsafe, you don't have the equipment to parallel generators. On the DC Side of the voltage regulators aren't matched as to Load droop, it is also unsafe...
The battery in the F-150 is an AGM (Absorbed Gass Mat) battery. As best I can determine they operate a bit differently. I had occasion to swap mine out. Usinge a voltmeter it appears to operate at a constant 12.6 VDC. Even though I charged the new one up to a level above 13.2 on the charger...
I believe that the ground "shorting" to the frame because of water intrusion somewhere is not what's going on. The Ground of the Pro-Power system is already connected to the truck's frame. Hence I beieve that the gound being seen is water intrusion (if it is a water problem) between the "hot...
Although 2 kW is kinda small for a house... the 2 kW is a floating neutral generator and could be directly plugged into your house, unlike the 2.4 & 7.2 kW inverter generators which are bonded neutral generators. These will trip the ground fault circuit in the truck if connected to the house...
If you go to change the transmission oil & filter yourself... Be careful. According to my dealer, it is not a simple pan drop. There is some significant interference that must be moved to drop the pan... If I have it right in order for the pan to clear the filter and remove it, you have to...
BTW, the transmission Filter for the PB is different than non-PB transmissions, if you go in to have it changed make the dealer check your VIN and get the correct filter. Also it runs nearly $100@. I use AmsOil lubricants. I looked up the specs for AmsOil Transmission fluid. It is not the...
I take a long view of maintenance. There is no way they can get all manufacturing residue out of things. So I have taken to changing oils early in order to minimize such stuff floating around in components.
Electrically this is doable... But keep in mind that this is a "Keep Alive" Battery designed to power just a few key circuits in the truck's computer memory if you de-energize or disconnect the main 12v battery. I had an experience recently. I took my PB in to do a transmission oil change. The...
Here's a reference for the "Separately Derived System" issue and what grounding is or is not, required. As I read this the F-150, if connected properly with a 4-wire cable, does not fit the description of a separately derived system...
hullguy's assertion of a violation of the NEC by removing the neutral-ground bond in the house panel is wrong. So long as the neutral-ground bond is maintained in the truck's generator and the ground to earth in the house is sound, the NEC is complied with. The NEC requires a neutal-ground bond...
