I added a 180W solar panel to the roof of the bed smart cap charging a 256 Wh Ecoflow, 7.7 lbs and $170. That's cost and weight competitive with upgrading the OEM battery. You can use AC charging instead when you power on the truck and it'll last a day powering a cooler when the truck is off...
Smartcap will allow tailgate to power open from FordPass. The tailgate momentarily catches on the friction of the gasket then continues down. Power opening is handy when you're camping inside and activate it from your phone.
Going the other way, the friction with the gasket will fail to...
FordPass message: "The item plugged into the front trunk needed more than the 175W that the closed front trunk provides at the outlet."
At least Ford is consistent.
The Ecoflow River 2 fast charges a hair too fast for the Lightning Frunk. The Lightning says the Frunk/Cabin draws 380W with the River2 AC charging. When you close the frunk, you get the message "The item plugged into the frunk needed more than the 400W that the closed frunk provides at the...
The EcoFlow RIVER 2 battery is on sale for $169 on Amazon. That's a cost competitive alternative to upgrading the vehicle's 35 Ah (420 Wh) low voltage battery. REI also sells it for more. Costco sells the brand, but not the specific device.
It's 6.1 lbs lighter than the Goal Zero 300 (13.7...
Has anyone tried tying a frunk cooler to the 12V battery so the cooler continues to cool when the vehicle is off?
Minimizing the extra overhead of turning on the DC/DC converter would be helpful. The OEM battery is 35 Ah (420 Wh). A cooler might draw 300 Wh/day. Updgrading the 12V battery...
The bed is the same. The cap fits the bed. I installed mine in mid August. The third brake light harness connector isn't mechanically compatible with the Lightning though. I'm "on the list" to get a new harness when they source the connector... still waiting 14 weeks later.
No leaks so far...
I’m interested in the go fast camper with a tent, but those extra inches won’t clear my garage.
Has anyone seen a minimal camper shell concept that can use tailgate up or down and still enclose for the extra length? I’ve sent some fabric coverings. Preferably, it would be a more rigid surface...
