I'm currently at 77% and shows 242 miles. So I guess I'd be close to the EPA rating. But, I mostly drive around 55mph to work. Prior to this I had a Jeep Gladiator and no way did I get close to the EPA numbers.....
It's between Orlando and Miami. It used to have an old dive bar and even worse hotel attached, but a semi truck smashed into it a few years ago. It used to be a location that you didn't really want to stop unless you had to, but now it's getting better.
I was poking around on the Ford app at chargers and saw one show up that wasn't available yet, but showed 200 chargers. I thought it was a mistake, but nope https://floridainsider.com/business/fl-turnpike-will-host-largest-tesla-charging-station-in-the-world/
I did search yeehaw junction, so...
I'm a bit of a newb, so ignore me, but if it happened that way, it might be just that it dropped from the higher 100+kw down to a more normal 50-60kw after 80% and it just kind of dropped too low to make the actual adjustment. Almost like 'hey, kill the power, ok, now lets go to 50kw' but it...
Ok, thank you for clarifying. There are a decent amount of Super Chargers and newer EA chargers that I should be fine. Maybe after this trip I'll end up buying a few more adapters.
I’m trying to find, but I probably suck at searching. Can we use the Tesla Destination Chargers? For some reason I thought we can’t, but I can’t seem to verify this. The reason I’m asking is I’ll be taking a trip and there is one spot that we will be hanging out for a few hours and I noticed...
So I take it being in FL where I wouldn't necessarily get to 131f in the summer, I should be ok with charging up to 85% (79% *real*)? Or, in the summer months should I lower this a little? With my daily commute I could get by with 50%, so I'm ok with whatever will help my battery life.
Oh I agree. I'm more thinking if they design it to be rated for 250+, we are only at 150, so *should* be safe. I'm not saying it's as good as the cables coming from the supercharger.
I was thinking about this the other day. How nice it would have been if the charge port was back there. I'm sure it's not as good for when charging stations are designed more like regular gas stations.
I'm not sure I would want to do 350kW over an extension cable, but I think I'd be ok with 100-150kW. Also, we (and I assume Chevy/Rivian) only need about 1-2ft, so you can really over engineer it without it not costing a stupid amount.
Oh nice, I thought this would also need to cool things down a little too. I know FL doesn't get as hot as AZ, but we try and compete. Thanks for clearing this up.
I just received the A2Z adapter as the one from Ford won't be here until November-ish and I'll be making a trip in a couple weeks (and I'm ok with having a backup). As I'm in FL, how important is it to precondition? I do have the max tow package, so is this kind of the best way if it's *that*...
Thanks to everyone for the replies. This all makes sense. Yes, I will rarely have to charge remotely besides the once a year when we take a trip a few hundred miles away, or the Thanksgiving/Christmas trip that’s about 125 miles away
Newb here.
Is there any reason to install all the charging apps that are out there that work under Blue Oval? Is there any reason while out on a trip that the Blue Oval wouldn't work and I have to have the EA app or the countless others? Is there maybe one or two extra that you guys/gals find...
