  1. 2024 Flash - heat pump noise/vibration?

I've noticed the same vibration and noise, and it seems to be from the heat pump. A small price to pay for about 4 times the heat from the same charge, IMHO. It's definitely different from our Mach-E which doesn't have a heat pump: Silent heat that eats a little more range.
  2. Windshield fogging up in cold weather

Meanwhile, our Mach-E and Lightning usually turn on the AC automatically when we don't want or need it in our temperate and mostly dry climate. Guess this is what happens when the designers make a system that tries to perform in a really wide range of conditions. Maybe someday they'll have...
  3. Tesla tap super tap adapter

    Mentioned here: https://www.f150lightningforum.com/forum/threads/teslatap-supertap-another-nacs-to-ccs-adapter.22566/
  4. BlueOval Charge Network?

Oops, I must not have been clear. Not paying an annual fee for P&C, just the sometimes higher rates when using it instead of authorizing with an app before plugging in.
  5. BlueOval Charge Network?

We got complimentary charging for our Mach-E which lasted for three years or some number of kWh, whichever was used up first. Have you used more than a couple hundred blue kWh yet? Now that we're being charged, notifications show up in FordPass. As an early buyer, you probably have the same...

Good points: An adapter whose charging rate can be controlled is better than the FMC. Make sure it can be controlled via Bluetooth or switches and doesn't require 'net access to adjust it! (Some do.) I'll recalibrate my opinion about the FMC to "better than nothing, might as well keep it if...
  7. Is mine the only state that punishes folks for buying an EV?

All this talk about what is fair...good thoughts from good people, but not necessarily realistic. Do we believe that "leaders", any of them, are motivated by what is fair and best for the most people? Or are they motivated to make financial arrangements with organizations that give them bribes...
  8. Tesla Cybertruck crash

One would expect a traction battery fire to get that stainless hot enough to oxidize it, not to mention burn off the tires, so the battery must have held up impressively. It says something about battery robustness (and almost certainly quick and competent first responders) that with so much of...
  9. Charge Station EV conversion to $4.50 per gallon @18mpg

Given that most EV charging is done at home, it's interesting to look at how electricity costs vary around the US. Here's a source: https://www.marketwatch.com/guides/utilities/electricity-rates-by-state/ Living in one of the "greenest" states on that map as I do, there's a bit of envy toward...

Congratulations and welcome! Your comment about "excited to learn" is especially encouraging. People who expect to get used to new things are a lot happier with electric buggies than those who think they're just gas cars that fill slowly. For example, my Significant Other and I have learned to...
  11. Trade in for upgrade?

So, which of two great options to choose... nice problem to have. What trim is your truck? Seems like a pretty high-end model. You'll almost certainly be financially better off in the long run to keep it for another 5 years or more, and AFAIK the changes for 2024 are minimal or slightly...
  12. Accidental cold soak -7

In the "why waste $500 if you don't have to" department: If your vehicle is still under warranty and the dealer isn't completely fly by night, you might be able to get that mobile connector replaced. I had an orange-light situation which took two trips to the dealer and some data to resolve; the...
  13. Has anyone had the Frunk issue fixed to your satisfaction?

Maybe there's an opportunity for our friends at BuiltRight or a similar company: A manual frunk kit to be applied when the frunk first acts up after the bumper-to-bumper warranty has expired. Something with a safe traditional latch and a cable release, and built to last for thousands of cycles...
  14. Ford Launches New Electric Road Trip Hub Site

The web page worked OK for me using DuckDuckGo browser on Android. I found it a little advertising heavy (rather than focused on links that help, help, help people who need it) but it still seems useful for new to EV folks. Not dismissing the concerns of previous posters, but every little bit...
  15. Water Bottle or Tumbler for Rear Armrest Cup Holders

There's undoubtedly something out there; however, as I use the rear cup holders (which I agree aren't well designed) to hold spare bottles which are swapped to the front when the front ones are empty, using different bottles doesn't work for my use case. What does seem to work is foam beer...
  16. Fold those mirrors in at the auto wash folks. Some interesting things I’ve learned:

Thanks for the photo and description! Hope that Raptor mirror structure swaps in with minimal trouble.
  17. Is Ford Pass app essential? My phone is too old to install it.

The posters who mention apps for charging do have a good point. Can EA, Tesla, and other charging apps run on the older phone? They can be awfully important when Plug&&Charge doesn't work. How about PlugShare, ABRP, Google Maps, and other planning apps? If those work, FP is less critical; if...
  18. Fold those mirrors in at the auto wash folks. Some interesting things I’ve learned:

Another XLT manual fold driver, a basic XLT but with the 360 cam, which I consider a vital safety feature. I'd be interested to see photos of what's inside the damaged mirror, but only if it's not a lot of trouble. Sorry that you've had this trouble to begin with, and hope you can get the...
  19. Is Ford Pass app essential? My phone is too old to install it.

I've been using FordPass for years, but I would be fine without it, and I wouldn't buy a new phone just for FP. You can do what you need to do from inside the truck; you just have to actually go to the truck to do that, which isn't always preferred when it's cold, dark, rainy, snowy, there are...
  20. “Dynamic Range” Display?

I agree with you that the math isn't very complex, but I'll bet most customers would still hate it. "Why is this number always changing? What do you mean, it will take ten whole minutes to explain?" My friend's Tesla 3 has a dynamic range estimate plot that it can show in real time. We both...
