  1. F150 Lightning FORScan thread - Version 2

With most of these mods you are changing a single bit. If you show the numbers in binary instead of hex it makes a lot more sense. FORscan could certainly make this easier but its interface is 20 years old.
  2. Ford Lightning Pro Power Onboard failure on the last weld of the project

It's pretty encouraging that they're actually investigating the issue.
  3. ford to tesla charger - warranty issue?

Ford is working with Lectron to produce the latest Ford branded adapter, yes. BUT if you buy from the Lectron website (or via Amazon or whatever) you are NOT getting a Ford approved adapter, technically. I am not a lawyer but I believe IF (and it's a big if) your adapter failed in such a way to...
  4. Ford Tesla Adapter Case Found

I put mine in a neoprene bag originally intended for a camera lens. Pretty sure it cost a lot less than $13 lol. It wouldn't be waterproof like the above mentioned case but it's in the cab or frunk anyway.
  5. Rivian NACS-CCS adapter, work on Lightnings?

When mixing and matching adapters for the Lightning, you just have to make sure it's rated for 500 amps. I think the Kia one is only 350 amps for example, so you might burn something up if you use it at a high power charger.
  6. Tesla Supercharger fizzled out on me today

This is true, but not at any station at which a CCS vehicle can charge. On the V3 and V4 cabinets the power sharing is per group of 8 dispensers I think? Not A/B like the V2s.
  7. Charger apps- which work best?

On my road trips I mostly used - PlugShare for locating chargers and (hopefully) recent user reports on whether they are working - ABRP for quick estimates of distance from A to B For paying for charging, the Ford app (Blue Oval Network) can activate chargers on the following networks in...
  8. I pulled a FedEx truck out of a ditch tonight

Did you tow it in reverse using the tow hooks on the front, or did you have something attached to the hitch?
  9. I have an outbuilding with no power installed. Can I install this, and have a 'standalone' off grid solution with ProPower 230v outlet? Thanks!

That's all true. But the truck does have GFCI so it should interrupt the current if there's a discrepancy between current going out and current coming back in (i.e. a real ground fault in connected equipment). So I don't think having no physical ground would be all that unsafe. But myself I...
  10. Anyone experience major malfunctions with their Lightning?

38k km on mine in just over a year. Zero issues requiring service. I kept my Equinox as a backup but haven't even started it up in a year. 😅
  11. Liking my Lightning... camping?

Pro Power kind of changes the game, assuming you're talking about "car camping" where you camp next to where the truck is parked, as opposed to backpacking. When you're thinking about camping accessories, you can leapfrog RV accessories and go straight to normal household plug-in things...
  12. Post a pic of your Dog in your new Lightning 😁

After a big hike he doesn't want to get out 😁
  13. Winter Road Trip across through BC Mountains

I mean, just like with EV ownership in general, everyone's individual circumstance / use case is different. It's a no brainer for *me* since I don't have other heavy usage during the on-peak period. Cold here so no home A/C. Everyone needs to crunch their own numbers. I think BC Hydro and most...
  14. F-150 Lightning outsells the CT in Q4

I think the point is, we don't know yet if that will have long term impacts on battery health. Ford charging rates are definitely on the conservative side, I would assume for that reason. Back on topic... what is the source for that Cybertruck sales number in the original post? I've only seen...
  15. Dog Mode

I'm a Mac guy and have some Linux experience but the path of least resistance for me was to get a cheap Windows laptop. Cost low $200s CAD on sale. Worth it for the glare free lights in my opinion. Don't tell Ford but I would have paid that as a factory option. All the other things you can tweak...
  16. Winter Road Trip across through BC Mountains

Yes the time of day plan is pretty much made for EVs I think. If our power wasn't so darn cheap to start with 😂 it would also make sense to do some power wall type setup where you charge house batteries during cheap hours and use them during the day. This is a typical power bill... $35 savings...
  17. Winter Road Trip across through BC Mountains

I live in Prince George and can agree with everything you said :) I did a big road trip after I bought the truck last spring. 9500 km to Toronto and back. And I got similar efficiency overall, 31 kWh/100 km. Cost was higher at 14.8c/km because other providers are more expensive than BC Hydro. BC...
  18. Why ND is great place to own EV

Yep, all it will take is one shock to fuel prices, and people will be back on the EV bandwagon en masse. All the "EVs are doomed" sentiment basically boils down to the fact that the US has unusually cheap gas.
  19. Ice & Easy: Winter Driving Tips from Ford

This is either incorrect or broken. I have not seen the truck attempt to warm the battery unless you set a departure time. My battery was at -11 C this morning. Quite a bit warmer than ambient, but certainly not above freezing. Likely just leftover heat from charging (3-4 hours charging, then 10...
  20. Why ND is great place to own EV

Yep if you have cheap electricity rates it's amazing how little it costs. Here in BC it's roughly 10c/kWh (guess that would be 7c USD) with a time of use plan so it costs me under 3c/km to drive. Closer to 4 in the winter. Just to put that in perspective, tires will be about 1.5-2c/km. The...
