So…whats the consensus after 2 pages?
Are we toast? Or is it still bread?
Is it too late? Are we stale? Can we pivot to croutons?
Do the French have anything to say about it?
…this is a towing thread. We’re talking towing figures 12mpg in a gas vs 0.96mi/kWh in the Lightning (I get 0.8-1.5 depending on the trailer)
Redo your numbers with what you stated here:
$0.1727/kWh divided by 0.96mi/kWh equals $0.1799/mi. At 12mpg, gas prices would need to be $2.159/gallon...
Hence the first part of that calculation. And some folks like me - have solar. But even at $0.16/kWh at home - the national average - that’s the equivalent of $2/gallon at 12 mpg.
There’s potential savings, sure since gas is at $3.15/gallon. But IMO and the point was MPGe isn’t necessarily the...
Unfortunately MPGe is more a factor of energy and not necessarily cost. If we’re being fair, a $/mi would be a more accurate comparison.
For example, for me the residential rate is $0.16/kWh. For the first 100kWh, at .96mi/kWh would be $16/96mi or $0.17/mi.
The problem is when we stop to...
Just a little more to add..I wasn't willing to drill into the exterior of my travel trailer. I didn't want to create a potential for water intrusion nor did I want there to be holes if I sold the trailer and wanted to take the setup with me, so I ended up rigging my camera up to my spare tire...
According to Ford parts sites..
HU5Z-14489-B is the current part number and supersedes HU5T-14A624-BB, HU5T14A624BB, HU5Z14489B. It says it fits the F250 from 2020-2025 so it should theoretically work since the kit I used is also from a F250.
That said, I haven’t looked at this specific part...
That is a really clean install, well done.
This will work on any truck without Max tow. The Max tow will have a second condenser there. Sucks for those folks (myself included) otherwise this invokes jealousy and envy from me!
Do you have more specific questions?
I’ve owned both, a R1T Quad Large Pack, as well as a Lightning. I put just shy of 40,000 miles on the R1T and I’m now on my 2nd Lightning with 30k on it.
I’d be happy to chime in on specifics. They’re both phenomenal trucks, but built for very different...
I bought a new (to me) trailer this season. A Transcend Xplor 247BH (aka 24BHX) and took her for a test tow out to the scales.
Efficiency: Round trip was about 40 miles and got 1.1mi/kWh at 55-65mph.
Weather was 78F and sunny.
HVAC set on 69F and Auto 2.
Wind was ~12mph
Trailer is...
Here’s the official recall:
https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2023/RCLRPT-23V418-7566.PDF
I would first check the part number on the light bar you have. If it matches, I’d point them to the part number and this recall.
If you have the updated light bar, I would file a report with the NHTSA and...
I’ll echo this. I’ve been a road warrior for several years. I’ve worked off CarPlay+Microsoft Teams, and kept my laptop plugged in either to USB-C for a slow charge or to the 120V if it was longer trips.
Power delivery is not something I have ever had an issue with in this thing.
If I were to...
I’ve had this for nearly 5 years now, bought it specifically since my floor jacks weren’t able to lift high enough or reach the jack points on trucks. It’s not my primary jack, it’s terrible as one. It’s my least used jack. It’s heavy, bulky, and doesn’t fit under most, actually any of my other...
I’ve got a 247BH. I saw 0.8mi/kWh on the last tow which was slightly disappointing, but I was moving at a good clip and it was pretty windy (20-30mph) Hoping to get a bit better next time out.
