I've been in the RV/ truck business over 40 years. Even "small" fifth wheels on a half ton pickup make no sense. The hitch weight is much greater than a travel trailer and then you add in a heavy hitch that takes up almost all of you bed cargo space. The height makes them harder to pull in the...
I would NOT try to tow a fifth wheel with ANY half ton pickup. I know what the "Towing Guide" says, but it will not turn out well.
I've seen many try over my years in the RV business.
The very first thing I'm doing to my Powerboost 502A Tow pkg. FX4 is removing the 18s and installing 17" Gen2 Raptor wheels and tires. I actually do use mine a considerable amount offroad pulling an Opus OP15. I've previously owned a Gen 1 and then a Gen2 Raptor.....I loved the tire/performance...
No, it did not make make my F250 "feel" any different. The rear shocks are stock length Bilsteins. No adverse effects felt by lowering rear vs. lifting front. I have 35" tires on my F250.
I'm going to be running the 34" 315 70R17s(Raptor beadlock wheels/tires) on my '21 F150 Powerboost. I know...
I’m considering doing the same......removing the rear blocks instead of adding spacers to level. I think it makes more sense unless you’re installing 35” tires.
I did this on my 18 F250 and it’s worked great. I actually used shorter blocks on it instead of removing the blocks altogether.
I think all of the Powerboost axles are 9.75. I'm assuming the Maxtow pkg has the 9.75HD which has the larger rear brake rotors.
Maybe someone can clarify.
So, if I want to use the 17” Raptor wheels and tires, I do not want the Max Tow package......is this correct?
I suspect the rear brake rotor is larger diameter on the 9.75HD axle than the non HD 9.75?
Can anyone confirm?
Thanks
