I think the point about super low allocations is right on point. My dealership told me they expect less than 10, however they have 6 orders so far through wave 3. Ford has enough reservations for years, even with a small reservation to order turnover rate.
on the topic of the order process- I remember seeing something recommending visiting the dealership and signing something in person. I submitted my wave 3 order online, paid the dealership deposit, and my Ford.com order page now says "Order accepted by Dealer" and below that is "Scheduled for...
that is what I meant to say but it came out wrong. People normally talk about two quarters but it's actually the one that the manufacturer hits 200k in sales and the one after that as you quoted. Hopefully most if not all of the 2022 deliveries make it.
I think Ford mentioned that currently you could not charge the vehicle at the same time the battery is being used as intelligent backup power. It might be something they can add later, since those of us with solar would love that feature.
I go camping at least once a year for a week or more away from the vehicle, and my current vehicle sits there with half a tank of gas with no issues. Do EVs lose any significant charge while sitting long-term? I can probably find a way to bring an extension cord and trickle charge at level 1...
looking closer at the order form, the $100 is shown as reservation deposit, and the $500 is called order deposit. I didn't realize that varied across dealerships, but at least it's refundable in the odd case I decide not to go through with the purchase.
I think the order number is the same as my reservation number, so those who have ordered that were not reservations on 5/19 were most likely dealership priorities or that dealership had no first day reservations and they are at the top of the list.
I've never owned a F-150 before, this will be my first. Moving from a large SUV one thing I noticed when I rented an F-150 on a recent multi-day trip was that it's a pain to park. The turning radius sucks, so it's something you just have to plan for. It will be a great commuting and camping...
Mine came installed from the company that put my solar panels on the house, it was a local solar company not one of the large lease companies. It's built into the inverter and is designed as emergency backup power. With only one outlet it won't do much but I guess it could keep a freezer going...
Does your solar system already have a lockout switch and an outlet on the panel near your inverter? mine has one so I can power a fridge or some other emergency device during the day if needed during a power outage. I could also charge the truck but it would just be level 1, 120v so pretty slow.
interesting read- that's the first place I've ever seen that recommended limiting fast DC charging. I didn't realize that stressed the battery system. I always thought bypassing the AC-DC converters was better for the system
Now that my online Ford account is showing a check mark next to "order accepted by dealer" should I be expecting anything via email from them with particulars? The online order listing matches what I wanted, but I've seen discussions about physically signing some order forms in the forums.
