that answers the question I have about why there was only news about 1 lightning delivery to dealerships in all of North America. Wonder how that one escaped the shipping hold?
the whole "wait for the media embargo to end" is not a good reason to hold shipping. There's already a multi-year demand for this vehicle, and every 2022 lightning that will ever be produced is already reserved or ordered. They don't need the media to drive sales.
interesting video. I think that's the first time I've seen a Ford employee talking about loadsharing via intelligent power in the future via a software update with no new hardware required. One more reason to get the integration system.
I think for multi-day camping trips where you don't have access to ice a powered cooler would be ideal. I would be wary of putting one in the frunk, since it has to give off heat in order to cool the inside.
thanks for the feedback. I think one other consideration is that some of the powered coolers can swap back and forth between fridge and freezer, or have two zones larger than the tiny one most mini-fridges have.
I plan on camping a lot with my lightning, as well as potential tailgating. I've been looking at powered coolers, but I also realized that just buying a dorm size mini-fridge would be a whole lot cheaper and probably be just as easy. Has anyone else been considering this? It seems like they...
admins-would it be possible to create a specific forum area for camping/cooking/tailgating or something like that? It doesn't seem to fit neatly into any of the exisitng areas and would probably have enough traffic talking about suitable equipment and showing off your builds to make it worthwhile.
thanks for doing the research. I need a ski/bike rack capable system with a cover and agree this is probably one of the best choices. I think having the frunk will reduce the amount of luggage we store in the bed, but for large group camping trips I still need the extra space.
thanks, good to know. I plan on camping and cooking also and didn't realize there were some 240v options. I think I found that 240v induction top on Amazon, but the plug is a different one. is that red thing in your photo a plug adapter?
Ford's next EV should be an expediton based on the lightning frame. An electric SUV would be huge. The Tesla X was an overengineered too-small failure and the Y is still too small. I'm hoping for an all electric XC-90 or something of that size or I'll probably just get the Rivian SUV.
I'm also on PG&E but in Monterey. No A/C and I have a solar system. The advantage of the solar even is that we generate enough to keep us inside the tier 1 rates on your chart (0.29 for offpeak and .30 for part peak in the winter) , and I don't pay peak rates. First few years of owning the...
I hope you are correct about that, I have an existing solar system and would really prefer that capability. We are planning on expanding the system, but I'm certainly not using Sun Run to do that.
I'm pretty sure this question has come up multiple times before and the answer is that the system will not charge the vehicle from solar when the grid is down. It's not as flexible as a powerwall setup where you can get power moving in any direction between the house/solar/battery. It's only...
those of us without build dates are probably looking at July and August now. I don't think the delays would cause them to add anything, if they are delaying for parts then it just pushes everyone later
