  1. Canadian Winters (Dealer told me F150 Lightning not the truck for me)

welcome to the Lightning forum, and congrats on the new truck. That 120km run will be a joy in the Lightning (well, depending on traffic) and don't worry too much about "Winter" since you live in the 'deep South' of the Province, and your truck (unlike the 2022/2023's) has the heat pump system...
  2. Charging While Driving w/ Gas Generator in Bed (Range Extender for F-150 Lightning) - Testing

Utility electricity sources depend on where you live. I live in a place with 100% utility electricity coming from a combination of hydro, bio-mass, wind and solar. The last coal fired plant was shuttered in 2014.
  3. Is Anybody Happy With Their Lightning?

The main problem with the Lightning: - it's just too damn FUN to drive. I mean really, I've only had the truck since February and I just rolled 40,000km on it today *25,000 miles. This is ridiculous in only 9 months of ownership. They should make some chages to the truck like cut the torque in...
  4. F-150 Lightning is the best selling EV pickup in the U.S.

I took my own advice: Picked up a buddy after work today pretty serious Gear Head but he works in instrumentation so knows a lot about "IT" stuff: - "no if's, and's or but's about it we're going for a drive and you will be driving this truck on the way back" He put up a bit of a fight, but...
  5. F-150 Lightning is the best selling EV pickup in the U.S.

Not sure if these are sales or production numbers, and if they include sales outside of the US, but these were the figures I could find online: 2022 15,617 2023 24,165 2024 33,510 2025 23,034 todate total of 96,326 {Edit: interesting to consider: 21,000 members on this forum would mean 22%...
  6. How does the lower front air dam work?

I don't know much about the air dam - this is my first truck with this feature - however many of the operations of the truck (ICE and EV) can be shop tested with a good OBD2 scan tool that allows manual control for shop testing. If you have a suitable scan tool or can barrow/rent one in your...
  7. F-150 Lightning is the best selling EV pickup in the U.S.

Everything Electric Vancouver - last month in Sept.
  8. F-150 Lightning is the best selling EV pickup in the U.S.

If we assume it cost Billions to develop the truck and set up the assembly plant, and then divide by, say 75,000 Lightnings sold to date? For every Billion invested that is $13,300 per truck. Let that sink in. If it cost just two billion to launch, then the cost per truck to date is $26,600...
  9. Ford Announces $200 Key Fob Belt Buckle

    Make up a smart-watch-and-FOB holder 3D print?
  10. F-150 Lightning is the best selling EV pickup in the U.S.

Same, when the Lightning first landed at local dealers in 2022 and was selling ABOVE MSRP prices I told myself - just wait a few years. By end of 2024 the prices were well below MSRP, discounts and negotiations were on the table. But not with the R1T, so I test drove two XLT's the lightning and...
  11. SR to ER battery swap DIY project

Just buy some LFP cells, and make up a battery of any capacity you like. Then connect to an inverter to create the 240v AC supply and power the truck from the (much anticipated) bed mounted charging port... Wait...EverDrive ? is this a new TM we should expect to be seeing ?
  12. Electric Vehicle Range Extender Generator

I think, once you plug in an EV it can't shift out of Park... so you are parked if you are charging. I also think that tiny Generator will be needing a lot more gas cans to charge up that vehicle...in the next 3-4 days.
  13. Ford Announces $200 Key Fob Belt Buckle

agree, I don't rely on PAAK either. I like having the FOB so I will be able to open the truck door even if the 12-volt battery dies on me one day.
  14. F-150 Lightning is the best selling EV pickup in the U.S.

Year over year looking like CT and R1T both took a big hit. I wonder how many 2025 Lightning sales 'might' have been those other two, and what motivated a change to the F-150 or GM instead. My own case, I was interested in the Rivian, but the smaller size, and higher price were negatives.
  15. Ford Announces $200 Key Fob Belt Buckle

The Fob is too big/fat to be comfortable in a pants-pocket, and is easily misplaced. The idea of making it "wearable" is good, but not at $200. I wonder what other way we can make a wearable FOB,.. attach a key chain to a belt loop for nearly zero-cost? PAAK is easier?
  16. Service vehicle soon - Failure Coolant Valve Not covered by powertrain warranty?

The Lighning ticked a lot of the boxes for my long-term ownership: - Alum body panels = no rusted out wheel wells/rockers/cab corners. - No 10-speed transmission to worry about. - No engine issues and no long term ICE maintenance. - No gasoline to purchase. Ever. - provides electrical back up...
  17. SR to ER battery swap DIY project

When I do a search in one model year, the rear shocks are clearly different, but the coil springs appear the same? someone correct me if I got this wrong.
  18. Service vehicle soon - Failure Coolant Valve Not covered by powertrain warranty?

My Bad, I had this assumption that a "Known Failure Part" would have a replacement that has solved that Known Problem LOL how silly of me. They may be more interested in just getting the truck out of warranty than fixing known problems with components...actually I hope they did change the design...
