I really do like the two-tone seats in the Platinum. It adds a lot of personality, but not in the weird "I'm a cowboy" way of the King Ranch on the ICE model.
I'm no auto industry expert, but that is really surprising to me. Tesla sold almost 500,000 units in 2020. The Mach-e had 40,000 reservations. Ford sold 780,000+ F series trucks in 2020.
They would have been surprised by 50,000 reservations on what is essentially the exact same as the...
Tax Credits AND from EV states. I'm saying they Ford is going to get the benefit of tax credits and likely sell most of those in ZEV states. I'm not necessarily saying that the ZEV reasoning is due to a tax credit.
But also, it is reasonable to assume that the demand hit them by surprise...
I know that a lot of people here are really up to date on all the EV stuff, but this will be my first EV that I've ever considered, so most of this is all new to me.
I know it's too soon to know anything for sure, but I can't help but feel a little irritated that Ford will get tremendous...
That sucks, I'm sorry. Hopefully a couple people in front of you drop out. These allocation numbers we are hearing seem very inconsistent and unpredictable.
Ford has learned with the Mach-E and Bronco that in this era of COVID and supply chain issues, it can over promise and under deliver without much punishment from its customers.
According to many people on this forum two weeks ago, they ordered before they even got emails.
Fleet ordering started the day before retail ordering, but retail orders went live before the emails were even received.
It’s tough, because it’s nuts for me to spend 91k. Insanity. But 80k is also a crap ton, and that is before taxes and fees and stuff. If I’m going to spend almost as much as my parents did on their house in the 90s, maybe I should at least get everything I want.
I agree with you, but from what I can tell, the Platinum Lightning's exterior is the least "platinum" exterior I've ever seen. The chrome and badging seems more subtle than on the platinum expedition or F150 from a year or two ago. On the build and price tool you can't even see the word...
I must have missed that the Platinum max tow is only 8400 pounds. I'm sure there has been a lot of discussion, but do you know why that is? What is mechanically different that reduces it so much?
I want to order the Platinum, but it really doesn't seem worth the jump of $11,000 from a well equipped Lariat +. Am I missing something? When I'm on the fence, I usually opt for more options, and usually that works out on resale anyway. But I'm not so sure here. I'm leaning heavily...
When I use this tracker, it says "it's time to order . . . " but when I just go to my reservations on my account on the Ford website, it just says they've received my reservation.
If by "entitlement" you mean that I expect when I am planning to order an $80,000 vehicle that they would be interested in helping me to stay informed and they would try to find out at least as much information as this forum has? Then ok, I'm entitled. Call me little princess for all I care...
So I've seen a lot of people try to get their lightning under the $80,000 cap. If the cap is $80,000, that is frustrating, because my Lariat + build keeps coming in just north of that. But I've been doing a lot of digging and I can't find any current $80,000 cap. All I can find about...
Well, *some* dealers aren't telling us anything because they don't know, and they don't know anything because they honestly don't care at all. My dealership has taken great care of me in the past, but on the Bronco and Lightning front, they clearly have no incentive to help me in any way at...
Yeah, I would be really surprised if it had anything to do with a lightning order coming up, but I was mostly just posting it because I think it's funny how much marketing and finance stuff Ford sends to get me to buy a vehicle even though I'm trying really hard to get the Bronco I ordered a...
Yeah, and I'm Ok to drop down to the 5 seater because it makes more options available, but my 2019 Lariat has 6 seats and it works out fine. Sure, I have to have the old school shifter and I couldn't get a 360 camera or heated rear seats for some reason, but otherwise it was pretty great.
I kind of think Ford may have missed an opportunity by not offering a Lariat with 6 seats. Seems like it would be even easier in an electric. I know most people prefer the set-up of the 5 seat interior, but a 6 seat option would have some interest I think. (Full disclosure, I have 4 kids...
