Wind, wind, wind. Traveling 70mph into a 20 mph wind, even if it's just quartering, is like driving 85mph. It's going to kill your efficiency.
I drive a lot in the middle of the country, wide open and windy places. I see anything from 1.1 to 2.2 mi/kwh at 80 mph. Totally wind and temp dependent.
This would be awesome. The logistics are probably pretty significant (tools/training needed, inventory of batteries, etc) but I'd certainly rent a battery pack for long trips when another 100+ miles of range would be handy. If all I had to do was make an appointment at the Ford dealership, spend...
This was extremely informative. Thanks. I've been frustrated with the haphazard way these updates seem to happen and particularly when a certain feature (SOC - which is one of the most desired for me) doesn't ever show up while I seem at the front of the line for others.
Your explanation is...
This is a big truth that makes a lot of comparisons on these forums useless. I drive I-70 across Kansas on a lot of my longer trips. Little relative traffic means I'm pushing all the air at 80mph myself.
80 mph is fast for an EV, but add in little helping traffic and it's a range-eating...
Yeah, I'm an ER guy and couldn't do it with SR. Living in the middle of the country, charging infrastructure is dispersed and I have to do some long drive days, even if it isn't that often. SR would be a major pain on those days.
Pre-heating only benefits range when done while plugged in. The batteries don't precondition when remote started if not plugged in, I don't believe, and even if they did, you would be using power to precondition in that instance.
I precondition when I can, but it's far from a magic cure.
The cold has been a bit of a rude awakening the last week for me. Cold temps + long trips at 80mph interstate speeds had the range really chopped.
That's not common enough to change anything for me, but definitely a reminder that the drawbacks can be pretty significant at times. Sorry it didn't...
Your math is right and the best way to do it if you're not going to install a charger that will track for you - there is typically (in my understanding) ~10% loss in energy used to energy stored in the battery, so you could safely add 10% to your cost and probably be a little more accurate...
Last night I used remote start and when I left one-pedal was off. First time that's happened to me in a long time, and I occasionally use remote start. I wish there was consistency when such a critical setting is changed.
I haven't - I played around a little bit and haven't fixed it. I shove a piece of cardboard in between the door and the trim piece for now and it stops it. Haven't taken it in yet but plan to have them look at it when I go to get my heated steering wheel module activated.
If you use the app to activate before plugging in, you get EA+ pricing. In that scenario it doesn't matter if you have plug-and-charge active, as it is already activated when you plug in.
I leave PaC active because if I get to a situation where the EA app doesn't work for some reason, I can use...
It's not about whether the driver is paying attention and has confidence in seeing the vehicles around. It's about a way to understand what the vehicle's sensors are sensing. It's about raising confidence in the system itself.
Ford doesn't have to tell us anything. But if I know what the system...
Man, this is not my experience at all
I find BC pretty darn good, and it doesn't stop steering when it kicks off, it will fairly quickly give you the "hands on the wheel" warning.
I'm extremely comfortable using BC 99% of the time and as long as a person pays attention to the road (as is...
