Right... I was only commenting on the nature of these A/B update architectures aren't designed with the user goal of reverting an update. And the fact that the only way is through hardware ODB / J2534 USB adapter and a connected Windows laptop rather than a button in SYNC 4 illustrates that Ford...
In theory, yes. In practice, it is generally never an option for a user-initiated rollback.
Typically systems that leverage this type of A / B partitioning, opportunity for rollback is not left to a decision for the user after the update. This type of architecture is has been developed to...
I get to share some of my understanding of Android and iOS today!
If an app responds to opening a URL, Both Android and iOS apps can detect if that app is installed. It does this by first "testing" a URL before opening it. For instance, on Android, for Google Maps, it can run the following...
It is the big fan button on the Home Screen. Given the only thing that “turns on” when remote starting is the HVAC, they rebranded the button as remote Climate Start.
I don’t use Google Maps, nor did I use FordPass trip planning.
But is the type of integration you are talking about how Lightning integrates currently with Apple Maps?
I understand the frustration, although "morally right" is an over the top exaggeration.
You are also correct here. Which is why I outlined earlier that they may be using feature removal as a proxy for feature prioritization. I'm not justifying the practice, just providing a possible reason to...
Maybe others? But I'm not insulted.
The FordPass app product managers and developers aren't stupid. They've got app analytics (they use Amplitude) and know exactly how frequently people use each distinct feature. Prioritization and feature turn-down are the death and taxes of software...
The only feedback I'd give is that the new app is missing the ability to toggle the size of the truck image on the home screen. This is a critical feature in my daily usage of the app and wish there was a way to revert to a previous app version on iOS.
If you do decide to bring truck image...
@rugedraw @jlcreasy As an FYI, this message from NASTF community just posted. It appears the NASTF login prompt in FDRS when BCM update is rung remains an issue as of today, Friday at 12 PM EST.
I found the following announcement in the NASTF forum itself which appears to describe the issue of FDRS failing to accept NASTF credentials. As rugedraw stated, given that those lurking here are just owners and not vehicle security professionals... nothing to do but wait for Ford to fix it.
Same. Created an account. Can log in to NASTF. But credentials don’t work in FDRS.
So how are others here updating BCM. There appear to be quite recent reports of successful updating it?
