Autopilot does not have any self driving. It requires hands on the wheel at all times and is just lane centering and automatic cruise control. It is basically the same as the non BlueCruise Ford CoPilot 360 but tuned a little bit better for curves.
My suspicion is Ford is aware, and this is why general rollout continues to be delayed. TBH if this is the case (and was always a bit of how I interpreted the earnings call statements) it’s probably the right call. IMHO the wrong call was probably starting to ship software that isn’t fully baked...
I'm going to +1 this. The stock Goodyear Wrangler AT were pretty bad in the snow. I swapped for Wrangler Duratracs and they are much better in the snow (especially deep snow they aren't great when its thin and slick/icy) but I really don't like them the rest of the year.
I'm probably going to...
There is a black theme. It’s buried somewhere in the display settings but you can set color to light, dark, or auto. Auto will switch based on time of day I set mine to dark all the time and it looks much better IMHO.
If driver assistance tech is the most important thing for you I think GM is a good bet. They have been in the game a while and SuperCruise has been the driver assistance king for a number of years. No matter how good Ford is with BlueCruise my guess is they are going to lag GM for a number of...
No noticeable changes like camera etc. ACC seemed to be a little smoother going down steep hills (sometimes I find it brakes a bit aggressively) but that might be placebo. Sync hasn’t crashed on me since update so I guess maybe that is something.
Yeah got this a week ago and no idea what it did. Hopefully the fact that it’s a full version change means they are making architectural changes that will help with future roll outs, though that is complete speculation. I just don’t know why you would make a full version change unless something...
Sorry - correct it doesn’t handle lane centering (at least my understanding) though also not just for geofencing. It is used with other mapping data to detect anomalies (for instance lane closures or construction changes etc) for determining when a driver may need to take over. I’m not 100%...
Yeah I mean what is more logical is to just credit the $600 still due to for the three year subscription when it comes out. For mine at least I paid $995 for the "hardware" and will pay $600 to activate when it becomes available. It would be reasonable to waive the latter (or at least a year of it).
Not at all the same thing. BlueCruise uses additional mapping data including LIDAR mapped highway information (HD maps) along with ultra precise GPS for determining lane position etc. BlueCruise type systems use way more data and are therefore significantly safer than “the weight” system. This...
I guess I’m less upset because if there is any lesson this pandemic has taught me it’s patience. Almost everything in my life takes longer than it used to and honestly I’ve just learned to live with it. Right now it’s a few months and I’d rather have something that doesn’t kill me.
If we are...
Seconding all of this. This is not how these systems are intended to be used (no matter how many idiot Tesla owners will try and claim otherwise). If companies felt confident these systems would work as intended without driver input and attention they wouldn’t require those things. There are...
Yeah no idea how this warrant going to a version 2. Hopefully it’s systemic changes under the hood that are driving it and it means OTA deliveries are going to approve, though not super optimistic.
+1 on this. I drive mine on a lot of old 4x4 mining/forest service roads in Colorado and have never had an issue. Nothing super crazy but definitely some large rocks/small boulders and have never had an issue with FX4 even with the air dam. It’s tucked pretty tight to the wheel and you don’t...
This weekend had to pick up 3500 pounds of flooring. Rented a trailer (3k pounds) to pick it up. 2 mountain passes for a total of about 120 miles with total elevation gain of around 5k feet. Performed very well, averaging 12 mpg overall with only half of the drive loaded.
My only complaint is...
