  1. Things I miss on my XLT

Regarding (2), I found a nice solution: (if you don’t mind sacrificing your superfluous coinholder for a Homelink switch!) go to Amazon and search Gentex GENHLBP1 (a two-channel Homelink module, lithium battery powered w/yrs of battery life) then on to Etsy to weber3Dprints to order a...
  2. GM Delays Some EV Truck Production Until Late 2025

$40k?? I think that most May ā€˜21 reservationists were expecting an EV truck that started at $32,500 (including EV tax credit at the time). It was a no-brainer, cheaper than ICE XL, and the expectation was to buy a nicely equipped version, or an ER, for maybe $10k over that: $42,500 more or...
  3. Help - did my battery shrink? Weird range estimation changes

And to add to that, you can use one of the resettable Trips (Trip 1 or Trip 2) to show current or recent efficiency; rather than using it as a Trip cumulative, reset it often to show efficiency for the last 5miles, last hour, or since you turned into that headwind, or since the temperature fell...
  4. Help - did my battery shrink? Weird range estimation changes

Here’s a suggestion: monitor SOC, not ā€œGOMā€ range. (For ER pack) Read your current SOC and multiply by 3, and there’s your remaining range; subtract 10% if you’re driving over 60mph, or add 10% if you’re driving under 60mph. Easy mental math, update range in your head as often as you like, more...
  5. Reduced Mileage versus Battery Percentage - help?

Here’s a suggestion: monitor SOC, not ā€œGOMā€ range. (For ER pack) Read your current SOC and multiply by 3, and there’s your remaining range; subtract 10% if you’re driving over 60mph, or add 10% if you’re driving under 60mph. Easy mental math, update range in your head as often as you like...
  6. Tonneau cover WITH the Factory Installed "Bed in Liner"? Anyone find a solution?

I think their stock waxes and wanes. They were out of stock when I first tried to order; I inquired at [email protected], and was told they were expecting to have more soon. I was recontacted 2-3 weeks later and told I could order on Amazon, and voila! I think the discount is...
  7. "Winding Down" sound when going slow.

Thanks for sharing the video, great-looking truck! No, my truck (XLT SR) doesn’t make that sound. And, as it does it on acceleration, it’s not regen. Sounds like some strange kind of resonance- perhaps a faulty electronic control in the motor inverter, or perhaps even an old-fashioned...
  8. Tonneau cover WITH the Factory Installed "Bed in Liner"? Anyone find a solution?

After much research, I ordered the Mamoru Hard Quad-Fold Tonneau cover from Amazon (I prefer the quad-fold, because it’s smaller when fully folded, and prefer hard over soft, so no flapping in the wind on the hwy, less aero drag). See mamorucover.com, costs a fraction of the hard covers at...
  9. ALL the CHANGES to the 2024 Ford F-150 LIGHTNING

I think the practical problem is that few homes have the ability to add a 100A circuit (for 80A continuous duty at 19.2kW charging) without service upgrades costing $1000s. There’s a reason there are so many FCSP on Ebay; 19.2kW charging just wasn’t practical, or even possible, for most...
  10. eMail from Ford this morning states DELAY

Received this from Ford last week (loaded XLT order, like yours): ā€œWe wanted to update you again on the status of your F-150 Lightning XLTorder. While we initially predicted your vehicle build would begin week of August 7, 2023, the supply chain challenges we’ve been up against are still...
  11. Resale value

I ordered my first in September ā€˜22, and it was delivered May ā€˜23. I ordered a second in May ā€˜23, with a build date in August ā€˜23. It’s now caught in whatever ā€œquality checkā€ is delaying lots of trucks right now. Big mystery! Glad you finally received yours, and hope that you like it as much...
  12. Resale value

I believe it would be more like 10 weeks than 10 months. Those days are over.
  13. Resale value

New 2024 XLT is $57,495 - $7500 EVTC = $49,995 for a new one with full mfr warranty, new heat pump, etc.; if I were considering a used one, I’m afraid I’d want to pay 10-20% below the price of a new one, at least! =>$45k Used Retail, $40k trade-in.
  14. Tesla adapter cost

I wasn’t aware of that spec (where did you find the 475A number?); I got my impression by watching OBD data in Car Scanner app. Regardless of 475A or 500A max, an adapter that only passes 250A-350A isn’t going to be capable of much more than 100kW; meaning, longer charge times!
  15. Tesla adapter cost

People don’t realize how much current is required to deliver 150kW, given our Lightning’s relatively low pack voltage (low-mid 300v). Any adapter that passes less than 500A will prove to be a disappointment, and its users will probably accuse Tesla of derating their Superchargers…
  16. F-150 Lightning FLASH Model Debuts with Heat Pump and Bigger Screen

I’d expect a heat pump to cut the ā€œClimateā€ energy usage (for heating the cab) by up to 50%- unless it’s cold out (under 25deg, there’s very little ambient heat to ā€œpumpā€). How much energy usage for ā€œClimateā€ on a Lightning in winter? Is cutting that number in half (by using a heat pump when...
  17. ProPower and the GOM

You ask a question that raises an even more fundamental question: why have a GOM at all? This universal obsession with GOM accuracy is so unnecessary. The best it can do is predict future consumption based on recent past consumption (whether or not to include things like recent towing or...
  18. Same charge rates for standard range batteries?

The new Universal Wall Connector looks great (I use the NACS version with a Lectron adapter). Yes, the Tesla app (just) now includes interface with Wall Connector (regardless of non-Tesla). However, I just use the Fordpass app when charging my Lightning with the Tesla Wall Connector; it shows...
  19. Same charge rates for standard range batteries?

Even 48A x 240V = 11kW charge rate… so the SR Lightning (98kWh pack) can home-charge a relatively deep 10%-90% in under 8hrs. I’ve yet to find my truck not fully charged in the morning! Imho, Tesla Wall Connector (48A max output current) is the most solid EVSE value out there. Remember the...
