Pull this piece straight towards the rear of the truck. There are 3 clips, and some plastic screw/thread thing that seems to hold it in place. Just pull and it will slide off. Helps o angle it up a bit as well.
Wow! Thank you for this. And the lower trim underneath the steering wheel, does that unbolt/pop out as well, or I’ve seen some fords where it seems to pivot along the bottom and “unfold” or hinge down?
Today is the day. It’s coming off and the speedometer tool is getting installed today one way...
Looking for some help on how to correctly remove these panels, so I can pull out the dash cluster without breaking anything. I need to install the speedometer in-line tool, and cannot seem to figure out how to remove these pieces from the left hand side.
Anyone with knowledge on how these are...
WOW, this is amazing... I just pulled the plug and observed the EXACT same difference. Hmmmm... wonder what we can do to resolve this? Does the power cable running from the emblem need to be shielded? Hmmmm. That wire goes right by the antenna for sure. Maybe change the ground location...
HAHAHA, actually after the last few posts, I feel pretty comfortable that I am not crazy (on this matter anyways). I did cut the forward facing crash bars to eliminate the rubbing at full steer lock, etc and it was well worth the small effort. Filed edges, a little touch up paint to stop...
Interesting... I swapped to a stubby antenna the same time I was doing this update and the FM reception is not great now. Never even thought to think if it had anything to do with the emblem. Guess I'll unplug and see if that is in fact different. Anyone else do this mod, and have the factory...
Even in my Raptor, with a physical button, you still had to wait for some of the system to boot up to use the forward camera, etc. Definitely was not instantaneous like the backup camera... just sayin.
Could be easily solved with the ability to customize frequently used icons or something like that. Would be great to move the camera to somewhere on the main/primary screen for easy access..
Fuel Rebel 20x9 +1 offset. On 295/60r20.
2” readylift level (puck’s on top of strut coil assembly).
But still the same on each side. I can’t imagine it created this issue. It’s level from side-to-side as well. Expected it to be the same.
looks good. I have noticed that these tail lights stick out a ton... just begging to take a shot from debris, rocks, mud. I hope the plastic holds up on them. Kind of wish they were more flush-mount style and not taking hits from snow, dirt, etc.
Hope you are enjoying the Lightning!
I've been going nuts trying to understand why the drivers side front rubs and the passenger side doesn't rub at all. Eventually in my confused state I measured the distance from the tread to the front fender well (on both sides) and to my amazement they are different on the drivers side. As-in...
no. This is an in-line unit that plugs in behind the dash cluster. For the new digital ford clusters (same as the lightning).

@Ford Senior Master
Any tips on removing the plastic panels, etc to get to the dash cluster? Trying NOT to break anything to install the new speedo calibration tool... panel with start button seems confusing... Trying to get this apart correctly and not break something.
Any help would be...
Building up the nerve to just pull harder on some of these dash panel pieces. If/when I figure it out, I'll try to document for the next person. Hoping to get some more time tonight for round two try. Wish me luck!
I got the rough country speedo calibration tool. Programmed. But still haven’t installed. Trying to understand how to take apart the panels without breaking anything to install behind the cluster.
I believe it is much much higher in loss. At a minimum it is 20%. Larger diameter, heavier, wider and more rolling resistance. I’m doing GPS distance trips on iPhone and comparing to what the truck thinks it did etx. Mostly watching the charge %.
even with the speedo error, it’s 20% loss (just...
Every local tire shop I talked to said it would rub like mad with that offset and wheel width. 3 shops said they would not even order them knowing I would be unhappy with it and want a return. In the end I’m super glad I didn’t to it. Those 10” wides and higher offset would have been a rubbing...
RECALIBRATION PROGRAMMED
Installed SW and updated drivers. Rough country unit updates below. They did not have the F150 in the pulldown menu for 2022 so I just picked a 2021 (I don’t really think that matters).
And I updates the tire sizes manually, and it populated the other sizes...
