It's not just the electric motors and battery pack that are ultra expensive. Have you priced the "dynamic bending LED headlamps" for this truck? Or the radar tail lights? Heck I saw a video a few days ago where a guy spent $5,600 getting the tail lights replaced in his F-150. The BlueCruise...
Was following a buddy who was towing the boat from the lake and the adaptive cruise worked perfectly so that I could "set it and forget it". His speed fluctuated a lot due to towing the boat up and down the hills of Kentucky so the adaptive cruise is so nice for that. As mentioned in post #2...
I came to this truck from a 2019 6.7L Powerstroke that was missing some problematic parts it came from the factory with and was on a 480 HP/ 1000 lb.ft. tune. It's amazing how similar the Lightning feels to that truck. The rush of torque and ability to easily get up to speed is almost exactly...
Can I use adaptive cruise with no Bluecruise or other nannies forcing me to hold the wheel at 10 and 2 constantly? On longer stretches of road I sometimes move my hands down to the 4:00 and 8:00 position to give my shoulders a break but I haven't figured out how to successfully do this. Right...
Our house was new construction 7 years ago. They installed a traditional smoke detector in the garage. On more than one occasion we would get false alarms which of course happened in the middle of the night and scared us all to death and it wasn't because of heat but rather insects. Apparently...
Which reminds me of a point I intended to make, but forgot. Parking outside is not going to solve the issue, unless you park WAY outside, i.e. on the street. Vehicle fires, and EV fires in particular, are so hot and violent that they will catch adjacent housing on fire quickly. I've actually...
I'm not a fire fighter, and I didn't stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night, but I did take a senior level data analysis and statistics class to get out of meteorology school. I think the myth that "ICE vehicles catch fire more often than EVs" is a textbook example of scale. Yes, there ARE...
I leased my '25 last week. I have zero plans to buy it out at the end due to the exorbitant cost of replacing driveline/control system parts on these EVs if they should fail out of warranty. However, for kicks and giggles I asked the dealership if I could buy it out at the end and they said...
From what I've seen the modules are around $4,000 each and labor is $700ish.
Just last night there was a guy on the Lightning owners group on FB talking about how his truck has been in the shop "for a while" waiting on a new module. I think he only had 33,000 miles.
What will be interesting...
So they're making an off-road version with shorter tires than the street version. Got it...
Color me not impressed. I assume this will get the e-locker in the rear, and that will be a nice feature, but otherwise I see no advantage to it. Ground clearance will be less, not more, and there's...
I think you're still missing the point. There are holes all over the side of the frame. There are not holes all over the bottom of the frame. Therefore EVEN IF WASHED REGULARLY the road salt is going to sit inside the frame moreso than it should.
Did you even watch the video? The inside...
I would never remotely consider driving this truck without warranty on the battery pack, motors, charge system, etc.
If you go over to the Super Duty diesel forums, guys over there say the same thing. "AHH...it's fine. Don't worry about it. Just drive the truck and enjoy it." I guess those...
Actually, if you watch those videos I referenced earlier in this thread you'll see that the cause of cancer on the F-150 is due to Ford not coating the frame properly and not installing covers over the holes that are all over the frame like swiss cheese. Ford welds the frame along the bottom so...
From the looks of the undercarriage in that video the OP posted, I'd say less protected than a regular F-150 because there appear to be more nooks and crannies around the battery box where road salt could hide.
So the Ford supplied home charger with a Ford supplied NACS adapter won't fit a Tesla vehicle with a NACS port?
That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard of. What I'm learning very quickly is that the most difficult part of EV adoption is figuring out all the various connection types. Reminds...
My truck was ordered with the optional power cord kit so it's already J1772/CCS and then has the NACS adapter I can pop onto it also. So I suppose I'll just keep the free Ford unit, if I ever get it, and if the wife gets some kind of EV car one day we'll be alright.
Only thing I fear is corrosion. Ford Tech Makuloco on YouTube has shown several late model F-150 trucks with extreme corrosion in the undercarriage. Apparently F-150 doesn't get the same e-treatment on the frame and chassis that F-250 gets and that's a real shame. I will have to wash the hell...
