My new Lightning has no brake controller. I do have a Curt Echo laying around from a previous truck. Will it play nice with the Lightning? Anybody used one with success?
Interesting. I leased mine 8-16-25 and that's the terminology I saw as well. "May vary based upon availability."
So mine is the Flash model with the 123kWh battery. Are you guys saying it will never charge at more than 11kWh on AC? I thought the Flash was supposed to charge faster?
I got a Flash trim level too late in the game I suppose. I don't have:
- Dampened tailgate
- Tailgate step
- Locking differential
- 131 kWh battery pack
- Wireless charging pad
- Door lock/unlock keypad
Which is ALL equipment I would have used regularly and would have benefitted from. Price...
Electricity here in rural Kentucky is $0.13/kWh when all the taxes, environmental surcharges, fuel surcharges, etc. are factored in. So, I figure that if I'm down to 20% battery and I "fill it up" at home it will cost me around $13 bucks.
The 6.7L diesel I traded for this truck cost me $85...
I think Ford is continuing to rapidly de-content these trucks, because mine doesn't have any type of torsion rod, let alone tailgate fold out step. Just a plain old 1985 style tailgate on my $72k truck.
What's interesting to me is that if you do the math on this guy, he's charged the battery pack from empty to full around 1,000 times now and still has 92% battery health. That is impressive.
It's just scary for the average person to drive these beyond 100k miles because IF you need a battery...
I have a brand new set of 295/70R18 Yokohama A/T XD tires that I had bought for my F-250, but I traded it in for this Lightning so now those new tires are just stacked up in my garage. How much work do I have to do to make them fit my new Lightning? Just a level kit? Nothing at all? Full 3"...
I went ER because of the flexibility. What about those unexpected trips that pop up and you need to make quickly? Or what if you occasionally do want to go on a longer drive? My trip to work is 40 miles round trip daily, but to me *potential* range is everything. Life with EV is already a...
Still makes no sense. A torsion bar is going to provide the same resistance at every point of its travel through that 90° arc of motion. If it’s assisting you to lift the tailgate through the range of motion, then it’s also assisting you to lower it through the same range of motion. It would...
That makes no sense. The torsion system in tailgates has been around forever. If it is in "twisted" condition with the tailgate lowered, so that it can assist you in raising the gate, then by default it should be "untwisted" in closed position meaning it would have torsion applied to it as the...
My Flash came with the 15" screen and it's one of my few complaints about the truck so far. I would much prefer the 12" screen and it's associated physical buttons. Buttons and knobs are always less distracting and faster.
Bummer! I bought a 2003 Ranger new and it listed step rails on the sticker but the truck didn't have them. Salesman said "if it's on the window sticker, they owe it to you." Dealership ordered the step rails and installed them for me. I might have a conversation with my dealer about this...
Is "tailgate assist" supposed to be the strut that allows slow, smooth lowering of the tailgate on its own or am I misunderstanding this feature? Reason I ask is because the tailgate on my new truck free falls if I open it with the latch and then take my hands off.
I would absolutely LOVE it if the Walmart in my town installed some level 3 chargers. That's a place I go to all the time anyhow, would make it convenient to get a full charge while grabbing groceries.
Okay I think I figured it out. It was user error. Apparently I had not set up my Ford Pass app with my credit card information yet. Once I listed a payment method suddenly all the charging stations started to pop up on the map.
Looks like there are several high-speed level 3 charging stations...
I just went back into the app and turned off all of the filters and now I see absolutely no charging stations on the map at all. Something is jacked up on mine.
I'm in central Kentucky and I spend most of my time in between Lexington and Versailles and Lawrenceburg and Frankfort. Frankfort is the capital city and Lexington is actually the second largest city in this state. Yet when I pull up the map on my Ford Pass App it doesn't show any charging...
My window sticker is dated 5-21-25. I have the 123 kWh battery.
What ticks me off is that the Job 2 features Ford deleted from being standard on the Flash trim is stuff I would have used a lot, i.e. charging pad for phone, tailgate step, door entry keypad, etc. Frustrated...
