That was my dream, but we ditched propane and went all-in with electric about 11 years ago - geothermal heat pump, electric water heater, electric oven, solar array, etc. And it's been a great investment.
But it isn't feasible to power everything with just the Lightning, hence the sub-panel...
Yes it works great. But I also got the disconnect problem when I first plugged in the Lightning.
To resolve it I had to disconnect the ground line between the generator plug (where the Lightning plugs in) and the Generac panel. The Lightning apparently doesn't like the bonded neutral (lots of...
I took a gamble and bought this one on eBay when it was on sale for $440:

I needed the 240AC output, which a lot of inexpensive 5kW inverters only offer with parallel units.
It seems to work well, powering the Emporia charger set at 20A. No idea if it...
I bought a Lightning three years ago (LOVE IT of course) and have always been excited about its ability to keep our house livable during a power outage. But I never actually implemented a way to achieve that.
We installed a 10kW grid-tied solar array ten years ago, and it has worked flawlessly...
Great trip and report! Thanks for sharing.
Just out of curiosity, did you pre-plan (i.e. make reservations for) all your overnight stops, or did you just wing it?
Okay, not doing a "truck thing", but kinda fun. My daughter borrowed the truck to pick up 25 dozen donuts for a school event. Half in the frunk, and half in the back. Said my truck "has never been happier" :)

...As new Love’s, they also have space for EV chargers allocated to be able to quickly partner with local utility companies and install EV...
Nice video.
She didn't include the problem I encountered too often on my cross-country trips - chargers only supplying a small fraction of their advertised output. One EA site in Wisconsin had four charge stations, all functioning, but none providing more than 30kw (I tried all of them). I...
I never use 1PD, but there is always significant regen happening, very similar to my Volt's. The truck even gives you a regen score every time you brake to a stop. I sometimes argue with the judges when I don't get 100% :)
Mine has been loose since day one. I don't see any tab with any type of catch on it. Any chance you could send a picture of what yours looks like when it's off?
I've probably got 7,000+ miles of Blue Cruise hands-free cross-country driving and love it. That being said, it does "give up" more than I wish it did, but that just means I take over for 30 seconds or so. And it sometimes does feel like it's not centered, but I've asked my passengers which...
:) That's basically what I told folks at the airshow who were curious about the Lightning (not a lot of overlap between airplane and EV types today). I told them it's very similar to planning a cross-country flight, but instead of checking weather forecasts and airport fuel availability, I...
Does anyone know the real story why EA charge stations in some areas are so problematic and/or so poorly maintained? I talked to some folks at a Madison, WI EA stop (all stations severely de-rated) who told me they met the person who works on Madison-area stations. He apparently lives near...
