Not all dealers are Ford Charge, but most dealers should be BlueOval Charge Network.
Activating a charger with Ford Charge should be the same as with any of the 21 BlueOval Charge Network partners inside of FordPass - just like ChargePoint, EVgo, or any other. Would love to learn what can be improved.

The good news is the vast majority of the BlueOval Charge Network partners have no complicated memberships and pricing to deal with - BlueOval Charge Network members get the same price as using those network's app, but without the hassle of all those apps.
Check the FordPass app before you head to any Tesla charger to see if it's compatible. Incompatible Tesla stations will be marked as "Station Not Compatible" so avoid those. At compatible Tesla stations, you should be able to just plug in and charge with your BlueOval Charge Network account, but...
If you're using the included adapter, it will not work on Destination Chargers - the Fast Charging Adapter is for DC Fast Chargers only. Do you have an adapter specifically for the Tesla Destination Chargers and it still didn't work?

I've charged at dozens of dealers (mostly Ford, and mostly Ford Charge network, some Blink which I prefer less) across the country, and haven't yet had a bad experience. On many trips, I'll go out of my way to charge there.

It was awesome, I really had no charging issues at all on the trip other than having to unplug and replug at a few Superchargers and one EVgo. 22 EA stops, 11 Tesla, 16 other networks.
