Doesn't the current pack take up virtually all of the room under the bed that isn't spare tire? A small tank could go where my spare is and losing the frunk could give room for the generator, but I still expect the battery will be shrunk to offset the weight of the generator and gasoline along...
You beat me linking a Freep article by 11 minutes. lol
Hope my Lightning lasts "forever" - not interested in an EREV for the few times a year I'd actually use it - but the mid-size UEV might be enough for me, if it doesn't.
I used my Ford mobile charger as my primary charger for 2 1/2 years before deciding to sell my FCSP and getting an Autel charger installed under my utility's rebate program. Still working fine as far as I know. It was outdoors for the 18 months or so until we moved.
The rule builder pulled my address and assigned it to "work" on its own after the initial charging session started... I'll see if it lets me change the association later today.
After 3 weeks , I got my truck back at the end of the day today. Charged up to 90% by the service advisor on their DC charger. Noticed that the tire pressure was low on the app after they let me know it was ready, so got them to take care of that before I arrived, too.
Everything looks good so...
Got to have a brief visit with my truck today. Had to swap loaners... Now driving a brand new XLT Powerboost... and grab a few things out of the frunk, which proved interesting since it was up on a hoist with the tech off of the day. Fortunately, the service advisor was able to find us a step...
So, not getting it back this week. Apparently, the dealership doesn't have enough of the thermal paste to put my truck back together and can't get it until Monday. Service advisor tells me the tech told him yesterday that he'd only being doing testing today. Guess he forgot to update the advisor...
Timeline is pretty close to what mine should be... assuming they get it reassembled and tested today. I drove for a few days with the warning since I could still charge to 66% and had places I needed to be. Did get a Bronco Sport as my loaner... it's ok, but nowhere near the creature comforts...
2029!? How the heck did you get your trial out that far? I'm good until August 2026 after they gave me an additional free year as they were rolling out BC 1.4
First EV experience. Jumped in as soon as the Lightning was announced. Took delivery early since someone else opted out of their order. Been absolutely perfect, until 2 weeks ago when a cell went bad. Waiting for the truck to get back to me... hopefully today.
Parts are in... dealership says they're hoping to have it completed by the end of next week. Should know more on Tuesday according to the advisor. Fingers crossed
My experience wasn't yours... I had a couple incidents of ice/freezing rain that froze my charger door open. That's when I bought one of these type of shields so I didn't have to defrost with a heat gun or hairdryer before driving off.
At the time my truck was sitting exposed to the southwest...
I picked up something similar on Amazon a few years ago. Got me through 2 winters where I had to park outside, but now that I have dedicated space in the barn with my charger hanging on the wall, no more winter shield. Worked well, but wasn't 100%, especially when the weather came from the SW...
Pretty much the same here (end of Aug 2022 delivery), but I did opt to have a spare sitting in the barn for a month or so before the weather started getting colder. Once I had my HVB faults crop up, I went ahead and swapped the 12v, just to be sure. Load testing on the old battery showed it as...
