I’m still trying to work out if the data I’ve collected helps to answer whether that’s necessary or not, and if so, in what conditions. I felt I was taking a bit of a risk not using one on this trip, but so far it seems ok.
There seemed to be a hypothesis above that the 12V battery might only...
Just to add, the vehicle is still stationary and parked, and will remain that way for another week. This week is particularly cold with overnight lows below 0°F (-17°C) several times so it’ll be another good cold soak for the vehicle.
In total, the truck will have been sitting ~4 weeks by the...
Are you implying that polling the API actually directly polls the truck itself? My understanding is that polling the API is entirely independent of the connectivity between the truck and Ford’s servers, unless the API call I make is non-idempotent - ie requesting a change to some state such as...
That would make sense to me too, but my understanding from what I had read was that deep sleep occurs have 2 weeks of no driving, regardless of charging / plugged-in status.
When you say power saver mode, are you thinking that is what happens after ~7 days? If so, is that documented anywhere...
I wish I could but I honestly have no idea. I’ve done no ForScan modifications to this truck.
My best guess is that maybe one of the recent OTA updates has subtly changed the sleep behavior.
I don’t think so - that’s why I stacked the two charts. It looks like in the first week, it was pulling power much more frequently, and then it, well, looks like it went into a reduced power mode - what you might call “light sleep”. But after 1 week. And not deep sleep.
Yup, I was banking on that happening and that’s what the graphs show. What I’m unclear on is to why the behavior changed after 1 week, and why the truck is still doing that after 2 weeks, which is when I thought it was supposed to deep sleep.
Either way, I’m not unhappy with what it’s doing...
Our 2025 Lariat has been parked, completely unused, for a little over 2 weeks (since December 10), and I've been collecting data on the power drawer. It is plugged into a Level 2 charger (Emporia EVSE) with no limitations configured on the truck or charger about when it can charge - maximum...
I’m planning on buying a Bambu H2S in a couple of weeks. This will be one of my first projects to print one I get the hang of 3D printing! I was collecting far too many examples like this where a 3D printer is exactly what I needed.
I swear mine has got worse. The other day I tried multiple times over the course of several hours to update departure times and charging schedule in the app and it just kept timing out. In the end I gave up and went and sat in the truck to do it manually on the screen.
What I don’t understand...
Following the mantra of Always Be Charging, I've got myself into the habit of plugging the truck as soon as I get home, every time I get home. I get a reminder to plug the truck in 15 minutes after I get home if I've forgotten, and another at 9:15pm if the truck is unplugged but home.
Always Be...
We've had our first few small snow storms and temperatures below 0°F here in the past week or two. Slippery mode is definitely an improvement vs normal in the snow - in particular just disabling 1-pedal mode.
As much as I love driving with 1-pedal mode normally, it's just too aggressive for...
The short answer is "no, I didn't", and honestly mainly because I didn't think of it! I love that you suggest it though, thank you!
Thinking about it now though, while it's a very interesting idea, I wouldn't do it. That said, I think for some people it could be a very good option, so I don't...
I do use the FordPass integration in Home Assistant, and it's great! But it still just uses the exact same API that the Ford App uses, meaning that if the truck is struggling with cellular signal, like it often does for me at home, the request to start never makes it to the truck so it fails...
Not without a totally different approach. The way I'm doing it is that my little ESP device is just emulating a button press. If the button doesn't exist, there's nothing for it to "press". It is a little annoying there being no frunk control - I'd rather have that than tailgate - but I guess at...
One of my grievances about new cars is how many things are moving to apps which require cloud access and often subscriptions to use them. When we bought our Subaru Crosstrek a couple of years ago, we paid an extra $400 to have the dealer install the OEM remote start module so we could use our...
Very cool! I run Omada rather than Unifi, but I am on the lookout for a good icon for Home Assistant. As of this week, I finally have all the parts to integrate local "remote start" (via a keyfob and ESP32) into Home Assistant too, so will try to get to that this weekend.
Out of curiosity, do...
