Awesome! A well thought out setup. Appreciate the great details.
It's far beyond what I'll need, but it does give me some ideas for a retrofit to use RO. Thanks!
@Altivec great setup! How did you do your soft water setup? I'm considering it to avoid having to spend time drying off the truck after washing.
You must live in the warmer part of Edmonton. I visited the area last winter and they had a few days of -50C with the windchill. Flights were getting...
I wish.
Watch the truck freak out - unless you come to a full and complete stop, put in park, wait for longer than you think, then finally push the frunk release button on the dash.
And good luck with all the beeping that ensues if you decide to put it into drive before the frunk has...
You might try removing the bottom cover in the frunk and measure the temperature after a drive. I've noticed that lower area gets fairly warm since it has an open drain to the area below - the components below give off a fair amount of heat.
Sounds like a fun trip! Hope you guys have a great time.
Range is going to drop 10%-30% in colder weather. I'd charge to 100% overnight and set it to pre-condition before the departure time to maximize range.
Even then, I'd stop for 10-15min to top up and stretch my legs or use the bathroom or...
Poor software programming, plain and simple. And if if was intentional, then that was a really dumb choice.
There's no reason the truck should shutoff after unplugging the charge port.
The truck shutting off along with the AC shutting off is a frustrating one to keep dealing with when fast...
Just checked mine and the inside of the frunk lid is white, on my grey/blue body color truck.
I haven't had any issues with the frunk - besides it being annoyingly slow to open and close. And the fear of the incessant beeps if you close it from the cab and put it into drive before it decides...
Long shot but...
Sometimes a charge cable won't disconnect since it's stretched and under tension. Try lifting the handle s little bit to relieve tension, and try the disconnect button on the handle.
Sounds like the issue in extreme cold is that Ford prioritizes keeping the battery pack warm at the expense of cabin warmth.
If possible, you should precondition the battery before leaving by plugging it in and setting a departure time. That will bring up the battery temp using "shore power"...
Nice! Glad to hear Ford has it working well on the Mach-E. The Rivian implementation has soured me a bit on it, but willing to give it a try if Ford rolls it out for our Lightnings. Just hope we get to keep the current lock/unlock method as a backup.
Ok, I'll be the odd one out... I actually prefer the Lightning's current implementation of locking and unlocking. I'd be happy to have walk away locking added, but would probably choose to keep the current setting.
Our Rivian has walk away lock and it's a pain in the butt. It's slow to unlock -...
OP, as @TaxmanHog mentioned I think you'll get better results once you are able to use a Level 2 EVSE to precondition. It'll make a big difference in getting the battery warmed up prior to a long drive. That Level 1 charger is going to struggle to put any real heat into the battery pack in cold...
That does suck, sorry it happened to you.
Hopefully that gets fixed quickly.
I really wish Ford would make use of all the cameras on the Lightning and give us a Dash Cam and Sentry feature like Tesla and Rivian do.
Apparently the park assist can get you OUT of spaces too!
I just found this out after checking the manual. Haven't had the opportunity to try it out yet.
So I've had this truck for 2 months now, and I'm really amazed by it. After switching from a Super Duty to the Lightning, I can't go back to that rough ride and all the noise. Or the crazy fuel bills.
But the Lightning has an odd trait that's starting to bug me. After coming to a stop and...
Anyone figure out if there's a way to remote start the truck using the key fob? I find using remote start from the FordPass app really slow and clunky.
The manual makes it sound like it's possible to use the key fob, but the directions seem to be for the ICE trucks. I think the frunk button on...
I think it's from the infrared camera system that watches the driver while using Blue Cruise. I noticed it cycling on and off while charging on our security camera too. Don't understand why it's coming on during charging - it might be a bug.
