I like the resistive heat on my 23. It's fine in the cold - have to manually encourage it to direct enough air to keep the windows clear, but the heater can keep up. At least down to -30 C or so. Can't recall if I've driven in colder. Haven't experienced the heat pump to compare.
My thought...
There was one up here last year

Edit: thread on it: https://www.f150lightningforum.com/forum/threads/lightning-caught-fire-in-canada.28204/
I never heard any follow up as to the cause.
70 kW is what I've seen when the battery pack is cold. In those temperatures maybe the pack cooled off in the hour of driving.
BUT it usually warms up during fast charging and the speed should ramp up. So it could have been a problem with the charger. Hard to say without an OBD dongle so you...
Yes, my 2023 just got PU-SYNC-25.2.1.6.5 and then IPMA-24.204.10.9 over the last couple of days. Only a year +/- since release lol. Ford's update system is really something
My phone (17 pro) always connects fine on a cold start of the truck. But when I leave the truck "running", as I normally do while out and about, fairly often it will fail to reconnect once I get back to the truck. Usually hitting the connect button on the Phone List to manually reconnect works...
Your 12 volt battery is getting weak. If the voltage drops, I think the main audio system module gets shut down to conserve power, and on startup it will use a smaller in-dash speaker instead of the main speakers.
NGL that was one of the drivers for me to go electric. I walk my dog lots and whenever a truck goes by, you can smell the exhaust for a while. If it was just started and running rich, or one of the many "deleted" trucks around here with no emission controls, it's particularly bad. In winter you...
You don't say what year your truck is, but I'm guessing 23. This thread is referring to 2022. But in general the issue is that *nobody* understands all the nuances. Updates are rolled out *individually* to each vehicle depending on 12 volt state of charge, phase of the moon or who knows what...
Thanks guys. That is enough info to be dangerous I think 🤪
For just the 12V monitoring I think I'd be fine with the app from the BM200. I'll start with that. What I was thinking longer term was for monitoring the interior temperature. Even though I've had no problems to date, leaving the dog...
Goodwill is a thing though. We could come back and buy another Ford product, theoretically, if we are happy with how they supported the last one.
But yeah the bean counters will probably win
There is a LOT of wishful thinking in this thread. Ford does not even want us to know that a 12 volt battery exists. They do mention it in the manual but only because they have to in the case of roadside failure, I think. My 23 doesn't even have charging rate on the dash. It was a battle just to...
I did a similar trip (minus the elevation) to check out the cold weather performance shortly after I got my truck. 5-600 km in -25 to -30 C. Efficiency was 45 kWh/100 km. Worked great overall, just uses a bit more juice. Two years later, my opinion has not changed.
1. What EVSE are you using? Are there any warning/error indicators from it? If it's the Ford mobile charger, those are known to be crap and the first thing I would try is a different EVSE.
2. Do you have a charging window (preferred start/stop times) and are plugging in at a low-ish state of...
Yeah, the pricing is not front and centre at all with PlugShare. Problem is, it's really not as straightforward as gas. Some places have session fees, idle fees, different prices with membership/subscription, different prices at different times of day... it's a mess.
I imagine we'll get to a...
One of the lights quit working on mine and they had to replace the whole running board instead of just the light. Warranty repair so it made no difference to me, but it sure seems like a crazy way for Ford to burn money by not having parts available.
