Why not keep the BEV option for those of us who rarely tow and when we do we don’t go far. I can see for that user who has long-distance towing as part of the recreation or their business, the ERBV would be an advantage. However, it adds a lot of complexity and a lot more maintenance. I would...

The generator in the new Ram 1500 Ramcharger (its official name) is an onboard unit rated at 130 kW.
This generator is not connected to the wheels; its sole job is to convert mechanical energy from the gas engine into electricity to either...
I hear ya, I am thinking the same thing. As you can see from the energy calculations you need a substantial gasoline powerplant to keep this truck rolling down the road at freeway speed. You also need a fuel tank, fuel supply lines, engine management system, new software to manage the engine...
I ran the numbers and came up with higher hp requirements than did Gemini, but either way the amount of power to keep a truck rolling is substantial. I think Gemini underestimated the energy losses. When using the power to run an EREV you will have both losses charging the battery and...
I absolutely love my '22 Lariat ER. I will drive it until I can no longer. That said, I have absolutely no interest whatsoever in a EREV. The last thing I want is a gasoline engine to maintain, and I could care less about 700 mile range. I only need to tow 250 miles at a time and for me...
Exactly how I feel. I am now seventy and bought my first car at eighteen, the earliest age of ownership. Since then I have bought and sold more cars and trucks than I can remember owning as many as five at a time. I still have two trucks and one car one of which is my Lightning. All but a...
No, it drops off considerably. I always charge to 100% before towing my boat an a road trip. That last few percent can be quite slow and almost a trickle from 99 to 100. However, one thing interesting is that when you start driving at 100% you get quite a few extra miles more than you think...
I put in a route I frequently do, 250 miles, one charge. It suggested a Level 2 charger. Then I realized it didn’t know I was towing. Is there a tow mode where I can enter m/kWh so it can accommodate lower efficiency. Also allow adjustments for tires or wind would be nice.
Not uncommon at EA chargers. Some of them are derated while awaiting maintenance. Try a Tesla V4 Supercharger when you are at 40% SOC. That would be a better test. Tesla units are more reliable for faster speed. I usually hit 170-180. EA is a crap shoot what I’ll get
Such an awesome idea. If I lived anywhere near you, I would come over buy latte and sit and read a spell. Unfortunately, I’m 1000 miles away, but who knows maybe someday my travels will take my Lightning in your direction.
I own a 2022 Lariat ER with 51,000 miles and absolutely love it. Best vehicle I have ever owned. I especially like the 80 Amp charging with the dual inverters that they deleted on the later models. That was a stupid move by Ford but it makes my 2022 worth more
I regularly tow a boat, but only once towed a dump trailer with river rock. The haul was smooth and seemingly effortless. It was like nothing was back there. I only had a 40 mile trek out to the quarry empty and 40 miles back so range was no issue at all. Highly recommend for short to medium...
Yes, I agree. This vehicle is great for towing. Whether it be my boat or a dump trailer full of river rock it makes no difference, this thing pulls like a beast.
I was kind of lazy. I kept trying to figure it out while I was driving, reaching in the glove box, the center console, under the seats, checking the dash while driving, etc. The sound always seemed like it was coming from closer to me than all the way across the cab. Then after almost giving...
