  1. Important Update: Ford EV Roadmap & Future of F-150 Lightning (EREV Next Gen Model) - ⛔️ ADMIN WARNING: NO POLITICS

Why not keep the BEV option for those of us who rarely tow and when we do we don’t go far. I can see for that user who has long-distance towing as part of the recreation or their business, the ERBV would be an advantage. However, it adds a lot of complexity and a lot more maintenance. I would...
  2. EREV - A Horsepower Math Problem?

They must use a shoe horn to fit it all I In: “ The generator in the new Ram 1500 Ramcharger (its official name) is an onboard unit rated at 130 kW. This generator is not connected to the wheels; its sole job is to convert mechanical energy from the gas engine into electricity to either...
  3. EREV - A Horsepower Math Problem?

I hear ya, I am thinking the same thing. As you can see from the energy calculations you need a substantial gasoline powerplant to keep this truck rolling down the road at freeway speed. You also need a fuel tank, fuel supply lines, engine management system, new software to manage the engine...
  4. EREV - A Horsepower Math Problem?

I ran the numbers and came up with higher hp requirements than did Gemini, but either way the amount of power to keep a truck rolling is substantial. I think Gemini underestimated the energy losses. When using the power to run an EREV you will have both losses charging the battery and...
  5. Will You be upgrading to the Lightning EREV?

You nailed it. Diesel for long distance towing, EV for everything else. No point for gas; ICE vehicle or EREV.
  6. Important Update: Ford EV Roadmap & Future of F-150 Lightning (EREV Next Gen Model) - ⛔️ ADMIN WARNING: NO POLITICS

I absolutely love my '22 Lariat ER. I will drive it until I can no longer. That said, I have absolutely no interest whatsoever in a EREV. The last thing I want is a gasoline engine to maintain, and I could care less about 700 mile range. I only need to tow 250 miles at a time and for me...
  7. Not a single "not true", except from Brian, not AI...

Exactly how I feel. I am now seventy and bought my first car at eighteen, the earliest age of ownership. Since then I have bought and sold more cars and trucks than I can remember owning as many as five at a time. I still have two trucks and one car one of which is my Lightning. All but a...
  8. My first 100k miles

No, it drops off considerably. I always charge to 100% before towing my boat an a road trip. That last few percent can be quite slow and almost a trickle from 99 to 100. However, one thing interesting is that when you start driving at 100% you get quite a few extra miles more than you think...
  9. What is your truck's nickname?

    GREASED
  10. New route-finding application

I put in a route I frequently do, 250 miles, one charge. It suggested a Level 2 charger. Then I realized it didn’t know I was towing. Is there a tow mode where I can enter m/kWh so it can accommodate lower efficiency. Also allow adjustments for tires or wind would be nice.
  11. Is anyone getting more miles per charge? I had it for 3 years and it seems im getting more as it it gets older?

My actual SOC drop for my work commute done three days in a row in similar temps has not changed in over 55,000 miles.
  12. 2025 lariat first time use of a fast charger slower than expected.

Not uncommon at EA chargers. Some of them are derated while awaiting maintenance. Try a Tesla V4 Supercharger when you are at 40% SOC. That would be a better test. Tesla units are more reliable for faster speed. I usually hit 170-180. EA is a crap shoot what I’ll get
  13. This F-150 Lightning Powers a Colorado Dream, One Latte at a Time

Such an awesome idea. If I lived anywhere near you, I would come over buy latte and sit and read a spell. Unfortunately, I’m 1000 miles away, but who knows maybe someday my travels will take my Lightning in your direction.
  14. Should I avoid a used ‘22?

I own a 2022 Lariat ER with 51,000 miles and absolutely love it. Best vehicle I have ever owned. I especially like the 80 Amp charging with the dual inverters that they deleted on the later models. That was a stupid move by Ford but it makes my 2022 worth more
  15. Tow Report: Ford Lightning vs. 4500lbs of Raccoon-Covered History

I get about 1.5 m/kWh towing my 17’ 3500 lb boat motor trailer so that sounds about right
  16. Whose truck worked great today?

Still loving mine after 28 months and 48,000 miles. Best vehicle of any kind that I have owned.
  17. I regularly tow a 10k dump trailer with 4000-10000lbs loads - best tow vehicle I've ever owned.

I regularly tow a boat, but only once towed a dump trailer with river rock. The haul was smooth and seemingly effortless. It was like nothing was back there. I only had a 40 mile trek out to the quarry empty and 40 miles back so range was no issue at all. Highly recommend for short to medium...
  18. I regularly tow a 10k dump trailer with 4000-10000lbs loads - best tow vehicle I've ever owned.

Yes, I agree. This vehicle is great for towing. Whether it be my boat or a dump trailer full of river rock it makes no difference, this thing pulls like a beast.
  19. Brand new F150 with rear passenger side rattle and peeling spray in bedliner

I was kind of lazy. I kept trying to figure it out while I was driving, reaching in the glove box, the center console, under the seats, checking the dash while driving, etc. The sound always seemed like it was coming from closer to me than all the way across the cab. Then after almost giving...
