On my last trip I saw a peak of 165 at both a V3 and V4 but it was barely sustained for like a minute or so. That week it was pretty hot outside and my adapter was in direct sunlight. An ice cold wet rag did nothing, and the adapter was measuring 135F. My actual sustained rate was anywhere...
To break this down a bit further, the SOBDM disburses a digital signal to all the other modules letting them know "Hey, im plugged in and going to charge, lets get ready for it." The opposite is also true "Hey, I was charging but now they've requested to stop." It knows this based on the pilot...
A Ford and a Tesla pull into a Supercharger. The Ford says "Hey, can I get a boost too?" The Tesla smiles and says "Only if you brought a really long extensions cord."
Nevermind, ill just stop here and stick to my day job.
The proximity pilot signal is the common between both systems (AC and DC charging). A loss of that signal wont allow you to charge any way, so I suspect that perhaps that signal isnt reaching the SOBDM or for whatever reason the SOBDM isnt acting on the signal. The dealer might throw a SOBDM on...
Even DCFC failed so I think it might be something else other than the inverter. At this point if the truck isn't throwing DTC's (which any component faulting would throw a DTC) and the truck believes its charging, I am thinking the wiring harness is bad; there must be an open somewhere. If I...
With the tip of something plastic or rubber (anything non conductive) stick it into these slots and make sure the pins arent loose. They should be firm and extending out the same length.
I may be wrong, and im not the best at reading into things. But your post comes off a little presumptuous. You think my good fortune with EA is due to lack of mileage; but I have racked it up at a slightly higher rate than you with 33.5K miles in 17 months. So yes, I put serious miles on my...
Even with the increase amperage from 450 to 500, I would eventually like to see Ford tweak the charge curve to sustain a higher charge rate for longer decreasing the 10-80 time down to around 30 minutes.
The chargers you are using may be derated. The only way to really know whats going on is with an OBD adapter. You can see what the truck is requesting and what the charger is providing.
I love the A2Z adapter. Personally, it feels much more robust than Fords original magic dock style and the Lectron version. Also, Amine is 100% a great guy and he will make things right if anything is wrong.
Has anyone noticed network improvements with EA? Their press release stated they expect 30% growth this year. In 2024 they derated some stations to 150 or even 50 KW for hardware reliability and subsequent replacement. Along with that, some of the sites around me have improved plugshare scores...
I wonder of the original adapters Ford sent (magic dock looking ones) are tested to the same spec. My A2Z adapter feels studier than Fords original version.
