I'm sure if they add these to local Wal-Marts not close to normal travel/trip routes they will be used by people with no home charging ability.
I've you have never experienced the stress and pain of a Walmart EA stations blocked by 3 chevey bolts (and 1 broken station) on a roadtrip with a...
No way I'll ever trust the Ford Nav for route planning. It still routinely routes to 60kw stations vs stopping early and hitting higher speed stations.
A2Z is excellent, I bought one since the free adaptor was delayed and needed one. They did a 100% recall and replacement on the early Gen 1s and while it took a bit to show up, they followed up email communication well. I now have both the Ford adaptor and A2Z updated. I'd recommend A2Z.
Check you miles/kwh, there is a current trip, which is wildly in accurate for short trips, then an A and B trip. Leave say A alone and see what the cumulative m/kwh average. After 18k miles I'm 2.1 m/kwh, no where close to advertised range.
A lot of us make this overly complicated but it really is simple.
1) use Tesla app(free) set to other vehicle and have an super charger adapter
2) do not trust Ford nav, use Google or Apple maps.
3) Tesla destination chargers are slow, but good on trips, you need a specific adapter, the super...
The truck curve is driven by the truck, not the station. It could just be some wired issue, but in general above 90 is painfully slow. I have to goto 90%+ everytime I drive into Mississippi at the last Tesla SC available to make my destination with enough reserve range till I'm stuck at a...
That tow is impressive, but also has to still be a lot of stops. Some don't have that time to commit to towing. Most questions I'm asked are towing, which in the south areas is not great. So I always say if you have time to plan and stop ever hundred miles you are fine. Funny thing my wife...
I'm up to now 12 uses with the original A2Z adaptor at SC this year. Everytime they just work and even yesterday with 6 Teslas, 1 other Lightning and a Cybertruck we all just pulled in and charged. No drama, no messing around with connections, what a concept. I do wish that eventually Tesla...
I really hate Ford website, I use to login and the order status for adaptor was easy to see, now I can't find it. I found order number from my July order but no idea where to look up.
Exactly, it has taken me a bit to adjust my habits. I started my EV journey with a 21 Mach-e SR. Because my father was sick in Atlanta I was on a short moment notice to have to leave so I kept at 100% everyday. With the ER Lightning, and access to a local Tesla SC, I don't worry any more...
Hardwired is nice, I think there is a lot of Ford mobile charger hate that may not be everyone's experience. I started my EV journey on a 21 Mach-e and used the mobile charger on a 50 amp plug for 27k miles. The only issue I noted is it hangs down with the interchangeable plug that can slowly...
@Henry Ford just gave you exactly what you need to understand. The EPA range is rarely possible by most and everyone that starts these threads seems to be learning the hard way that a brick driven at 70+ mph is going to get 2 m/kwh. Wait till you have a storm with a major head wind.
If you...
I get it all, but maybe you all have had a better experience. In GA Atlanta area it was an utter nightmare trying to travel to FL. The Bolts were left unattended, on every charger and a line. I'm not talking a 15 min or even 30 min wait, I'm talking hours and nobody showed up.
I charge to...
Not all Tesla charging stations will work, you have to goto a V3 or V4, which is why everyone says use Tesla app to find, not Ford nav. There is a lot of complication being added here, I map my route before leaving, hand write down all the Tesla stops on a paper and enter them in order for my...
I've found very little use to random destination chargers unless I can charge up overnight. I never bother with either destination or J1772 for a few hours to be honest. So many are pretty worn out and look like a fire waiting to happen. I'll road trip, fast charge to 80 to 90% and not worry.
I fully expect Tesla SC to start being overwhelmed with ridiculous slow charging Bolts sitting for hours to 100% like they do at Walmart RA in the SE.
Maybe they will be too cheap to pay the rates and buy adaptors. One can hope...
I'm waiting to see actual winter range improvement on 24s. Given the market and inflation I'm sticking with my 23, hope to pay off Fed 2025 and target early retirement within 5 years. If this truck holds up, I'll keep past the 80k extended warranty and try for at least 150k miles like my old RAM.
