I don't have an issue with a generator, if I wanted it. I don't understand the dumping all the engineering and development cost like this. Why not build the 25-26 with 1 battery option and 3 to 4 trim levels with mo options to have economics of scale. Then transition to add a generator to the...
I'll be out of the 36k warranty before month end for sure, really like to see these updates. My 2014 RAM 1500 Hemi 4x4 Crew Cab basically ran 137k miles with only one out of basic warranty repair. It was a struggle to trade the RAM for the Lighting give the amazing reliability I had.
I did...
If I'm honest, I'm happy with the truck and will keep it. However, given then trips to Mississippi I have to take and the fact charging options aren't improving, I'd probably have bought a new RAM 1500 with a hemi instead.
I'd sure like to see how that heat pump change is working out. In a couple of posts I've seen in FB, 24 Flash no realy improvement based on my 23 XLT ER impacts.
I'm not there yet, and have to see how the future legislation changes the landscape. The fact is EV are awesome for a lot of reasons but not perfect. If you road trip it is a pain and adds time, there is no getting around this.
I firmly believe we need options for the consumer to decide...
For the record I don't care what the Tesla cost because when I need to charge on a trip I need to charge and get moving, not show up, hope 1 of the 4 are working and not blocked by slow charging Bolts.
Travel in the south and not CA and you may see the difference for sure
That right there is key, the aerodynamic drag is not linear with speed but exponential. I can't see in my area towing a trailer. I'd have to stop ever 2 hours and sit for 30min, if I'm lucky. Love the truck for around town, but roadtrips and towing nope for me.
Over 16k miles in 1 year also, lifetime average is 2.1 m/kWh. Road trips are 70mph now and I count on 2m/kWh, never the ridiculous range. Also since I got the % battery OTA update, the current trip m/kWh is very optimistic on short trips under 10 to 15 miles.
I was helping a coworker...
Download the brochure, it clearly states there are no extended EV battery warranty past the factory 8 year / 100k miles. Anything a dealership tells you doesn't matter, read the warranty coverage.

This is the issue and a lot of problems when these are high mileage. It is true a gas could have a failure too, but there are a lot of 100k plus trucks running around. Some day maybe the same will be EV, but it is still early.
If I was road tripping I'd get a regular V8 F150 or RAM. I would not touch a hybrid or those turbo 4C in Chevrolet trucks.
Good luck for sure and enjoy the journey!
Your ask seems dependent on if we would run this truck to 150-200k in 4 to 5 years if that was our use case. And concern about value.
For me if that was the case, I'd buy a regular V8 F150 and run it with those miles with little concern. I traded my 2014 RAM 1500 crew cab 4x4 Long bed with...
Nice feedback, I did have a CT order reservation too, but after Ford reduced the price in late 2023, I got my XLT ER to replace my 2022 Mach-e SR and 2024 RAM 1500 with 140k miles. I'm happy, but road trips were terrible till I bought the A2Z adaptor and started just using Tesla SC. I never...
Glad you all got a demo, which is pretty cool. Only thing I'd add is that the range of 300+miles is highly unlikely, my 15k mile average is 275miles when calculated against the 2.1 m/kwh. This is very often over looked and to make matters worst is the dash board feeds very optimistic m/kwh...
Almost a year later and 15k miles. Mostly just local and easy trips out and back to charge at home or stays at my Mom's house in TN. The folding mirrors are now really the only big deal I wish the XLT had.
After this year which has included 1 FL trip, 4 trips to MS, trips to central Alabama...
If you are traveling relatively flat interstate at 70 mph with no head wind, j use 2 m/kwh always. After just under 15k miles I never have seen a miracle change like others post.
I agree with @VAF84 ! I'm a previous Iron Butt motorcycle competitor and gas stops were always fast and efficient. Now ya the life of EV road trips introduces many sacrifices most consumers won't tolerate.
