IMO You should start offering $10k under and start looking for a lightly used 2022. Then when you find one you should stop by and rub his nose in it.
It's an amazing truck, but a Lariat ER isn't worth $100k.
You're not cutting the dealers much slack. But you're still cutting them more slack than they deserve. I know for a fact that the dealer I reserved with had WAY more information than they let on. They flat lied about what they knew and did.
The second dealer that I signed a purchase agreement...
When you're price comparing on Cars & Bids, remember that the final price is before the buyer's fee.
Also, you should take into account whether the prices you see there are for dealer demo units. No sane person is going to pay full price for a truck that customers and sales managers hooned for...
Incidentally, I think from a size perspective that the Rivian is better suited to me. But size isn't the only factor. Price, aftermarket support, and serviceability are all important too. Which is why I picked the Lightning instead of the Rivian.
(Also what I really want is a smaller truck with...
I don't know, I think I did exactly that. I said right at the end: "Anyway, if they come out with a Ranger Lightning, sign me up."
It's not like I came out and said "It's not perfect for me, so they shouldn't make it that way for anybody!"
I certainly understand why people might need a bigger...
I couldn't disagree with this more. I think that the current Super Crew format of the F-150 has so much wasted interior space that is just useless. For one, it's just so WIDE. the passenger seat is a mile away from the driver. It makes the middle rear seat more usable, but... most people aren't...
I had a pretty negative impression of the park assist the few times I've tried it, and I thought that a video of somebody showing it off might convince me to give it another chance. But that video does a great job of demonstrating all the things wrong with the park assist. Didn't find the spot...
IMO at least try to haggle with them.
$10k over was the opening ask by the dealer on my Lariat ER, and I ended up at sticker.
Ask 'em if they have somebody else lined up yet. Be willing to close the deal same day.
Congrats on the new truck! :)
Super easy to tell. The dealer stock units are blue, the customer orders are green and say "SPECIAL ORDER" at the bottom.
Extremely shitty of Ford to have shipped any dealer stock while many of us were still waiting with reservations. But here we are.
Supposedly dealers were supposed to call...
I would be very surprised to find Pros at MSRP. Those things are winning lottery tickets.
Lariat SRs, though... Spend the morning on the phone. You'll find one at sticker.
I had a deposit and purchase agreement on a dealer stock Lariat SR at MSRP for weeks. But it never arrived from the ramp. I passed on two others dealers called me about in the meantime, before jumping on a Lariat ER on Thursday (also MSRP).
The SRs were blue sticker, but the ER was an...
Dealer told me that the truck I had a deposit on was waiting on blue ovals. Though they lied about literally everything else, so I have no reason to actually believe them.
Indeed, I am now receiving e-mails for every truck delivered to that dealership. Doesn't help me, but it's hilarious! Security isn't their thing I guess.
Can you tell any of this from the top of the window sticker? Where can you see a hold if the dealer doesn't tell you?
I've got a deposit on a truck that's at the same ramp from this same build week. In the meantime I've passed on another truck thinking this one was arriving any hour (because...
Woah, there's tons of space under there!

Somebody should make a mounting kit with ducts that plumb into the air flaps on the back of the cabin for easy ethanol heater installs.
While it's true that heat pumps can be >100% net efficiency, I think that the more important bit here is that you don't want to be taking any of that energy from your battery.
The heater I linked above burns 1 liter of ethanol in 10 hours of operation. If the cabin is pre-heated, and it's only...
Turns out this is a less-crazy idea than it seemed. In fact it has been done and is a commercial product that is commonly installed in electric Nissans:
