Walmart already having the land is definitely in their favor. For me, DCFC is 2x to 3x the cost of home charging, which is kind of ridiculous but I expect the cost of the equipment and installation is high. Having a charger on site can influence where we go while in a trip, if we have a 25...
The unusual "perfect storm" conditions of 2022-23 weren't going to hold, if finance companies and automakers expected they were and didn't hedge their bets somehow, then that's on them. Used EVs had pretty good resale prices because EVs were hot at the time. New units were production capacity...
As far as I understand, sales are slow for all vehicles. Also a lot of people don't tend to switch unless they think gas and diesel prices will be high for a while.
There's still a lot of decently speced new Lightnings available at relatively attractive prices with incentives (IMO).
It's often not that hard to add a charger at the home. Ford even offered to pay for installing one. Even if there's not a lot of panel capacity, there's chargers that can use a 20A 240V circuit, good enough to charge for a pretty decent commute while you sleep.
Supporting renters is a problem...
There’s still 53 new Lightnings on dealer lots within 100 miles of me despite having pretty good incentives. Most have extended range batteries. The incentives I’m finding makes me wish I had waited a few months but oh well.
Yep the cost of electricity varies even more by state and region than fuels. But at least in my case the cost of electricity doesn't vary day to day, week to week. There is a day time peak rate in the summer but I can easily charge off peak.
I watched a couple videos of the system from users and installers in Australia only last week. I didn't know it was coming to the US. I'm interested but not in a position to get it yet. I hope it succeeds, it has a lot going for it.
I was hoping it would come sooner than this. This is reinforces my decision to quit nursing an old car and got into something that was available already. A lot can change in a year or two.
I'm blown away that a weight is enough to do it. I won't do that but I get very annoyed with the nag when my hands are securely on the steering wheel. It did seem like it's detecting turning force on the wheel and not whether hands are on the wheel.
It’s a much bigger truck than I expected but I've never owned a truck before. I have plenty of vertical space. It’s a little tight to one side and I have enough room to access the tailgate or trunk, one or the other at any given time, when the overhead door is closed. Also, before this, I kept...
That's a bad look for them to go that route and it makes me even more suspicious. It's not a posture I like seeing from a company that's operating in good faith.
Even assuming they have something promising, there's a long road from a promising innovation to a component that's ready for...
Maybe I paid more attention and read more news stories than other fans but I never had any expectations the Lightning would be part of the UEV platform. Ford reps were quoted several times that the pickup on this platform wasn't going to be a full size pickup and it wasn't going to be a...
That's an overly literal reading of the term "universal", it mainly means they're going to support a variety of vehicle types on it, think sedan, minivan, compact truck etc. If you see what they're doing in the video, the chassis and drive train they've developed for the platform, I don't know...
