Electrek article (below) on CA energy demand potentially served by EVs. This subject has been well known for two decades and as peak power demand surfaces, grows⦠, back up power is strategically more important thus BEVs, Hybrids parked with reserve stored power could become part of grid...
On our old farm (was a cranberry farm) I use our Lightning to run lights on container buildings, charge battery tools (chainsaw, drills, weed whackers, hedge trimmers, skill saw, and run air compressor, shop vac, etc.).
A good example⦠chased a leak on a 400ā 2.5ā underground water line. I used...
Overhead up-fitter switch block (say 6 switches?) CANBUS compliant and;
Tune-able suspension from driverās position to add bed load/trailer tongue capacity? do not know if thatās feasible but we used adjustable air suspension on 1/2 tons to add say 500-1000 pounds capacity. Made a huge difference.
Interesting Inside EV article on Louisvilleās new manufacturing line⦠makes one wonder how such a process wouldāve lowered Lightningās cost although itās BOF style probably not easy to convert to the new universal platform.

Our truck was built May of ā23. This year June I drove 1800 miles roundtrip to Great Falls MT. Charged 10 times at DCFCs (Tesla & Electrify America) No issues.
Iāve hit two deer, one with an Escape, 2nd with the Mach E. Those strikes resulted in $3k-$4K damage respectively. The MME took about 4 months to get repaired (parts and body shop backlog). We were happy with both repairs. The MME had a bent hood, broken head light, missing trim pieces...
My ā23 charged to 353 on a full charge. That was after a 260 mile trip where I averaged 2.7 due to tailwinds and 75-80 degree weather, lots of traffic.

Itād be interesting to run some body panel trim styles to see how a Lightning might look retro. I always liked the factory two-tones. Of course, the lift gives them the āHigh Boyā look.
I read through the link below and thought... well thatās in the past. Cracked me up because my past ICE driving burned through brakes, plugs, oil, filters, etc. at an unholy level. I donāt miss it. Hard to believe how fast the Lightning community moved on.
And Iām 17 miles shy of 60K...
Iāve had a rigid rollup since buying the LTE in ā23. Works very well and gives the truck a sweet finished look. Iād seriously consider a folding hardshell for the exterior lash down advantages as mentioned. I run tires 36 psi winter, 44 psi S, S, F. That and modest speeds on rural roads has...
š and shorter than filling the 35 gallon tank in my 7.3 F250 particularly because getting the last two gallons in took forever if the truck wasnāt sitting perfectly flat/slightly banked away from the filler side.
The S.O. and I rented a Hertz Mach E GT with a Borla soundā¦system⦠It was hilarious as in big block rumble at the flip of switch plus very effective āshiftā sounds too! So loud that Iād turn it off when parking late in the eve at the hotel.
My ā99 7.3 SD 250 was loud but not in a pleasant way...
Chargers are likely scaled to fit the needed demand⦠not max speed as a big box retailer wants the customer to shop, thus calling for power demand for 40% of say a 60-80 kwh battery in 45 minutes is way cheaper to scale as opposed dumping that wattage in 5 minutes.
$30,000 BEVs match with...
Weāve saved well over $30K net being a BEV household last three to five years. Obviously high fuel prices driving some trends including this current trend (see link below).
Donāt know how many forum members are early adopters? While five years doesnāt really qualify in my book; two family...
In Washington our current licensing electrification rate for the 3 year old Lightning is $225. At our new power rate of .069 (up from .0634 3 years ago) which means Iām paying for 3260 miles.
In our SW rural county area the capital expenses for replacing 1930ās era steel truss/timber trestle...
So true. I was talking with our former PUD manager about 6 years ago. He said the most important position in the District was the gal buying power futures. A consultant relayed that natural gas was becoming a power system player and that was resulting in major gas line extensions and because of...
