It's protectionism mostly, very short sighted as you say. I don't see a fire under US manufacturers to catch up, because they feel they don't need to. All of this is at the expense of the US consumer. I'm excited to see how things pan out for the rest of North America.

While it does give me pause that basically every automotive youtuber who experiences chinese EVs comes away super impressed, none of them have done any sort of longevity/wear and tear testing. There's also the factor that even if we allowed them all to come here, there won't be dealer/service...

Can't get any local Ford dealer to do mobile service for this. Might end up just ignoring this one until I eventually trade it in

My local dealer sends out mailers about how they have mobile service, and if you call and ask for it, they don't know anything about it.

I like the lights in them too, probably super helpful both in an emergency charging situation, or if using them with pro power at night in an outage.

I'd never go back to gas. Only fuel I burn is natural gas in my furnace. If it ever breaks it will be replaced with a heat pump. Looking at EV9 at the moment. I doubt I make any move until early 27 though since I got an extended warranty.
