I feel like we could maybe start a “good EV dealer” by state on a shared google doc or something.
I seem to remember just such a thread on the Mach E Forum.

Unfortunately, the dealership back shop, service bay and service tech advisor workforce is known for, umm, "moving on". So in my experience, a great EV-oriented dealership might look very different 18 months+ later.

I am not sure if this is related to this issue or not, but i recently had my 3rd stock Gear Shifter failure. The weekend prior to it failing on me the truck did fail to go into park properly after parking and i noticed it rolling more than usually right way after taking my foot off the brake.

The first 2 were covered under warranty, so the 3rd was on me to replace. I decided to make the switch to the rotary shifter conversion and it gives notification its applied the brake every time i put it in park now. I don't recall this being a notification that showed up very often prior to the conversion.

My app showed the recall was ready for my 25 Flash and I made an appointment to take it in Monday morning.
I would call in to check that, i stopped in last Friday, because my app said it was ready also and they said their system showed no available fix yet.

I just called and they verified with the tech that they do have the parts and it is only for 2025 Lightnings at the moment.

2025 Star White Lightning Lariat
Got my roll away recall programmed today at my house by a mobile tech. The tech initially hooked his car to my 12 V jumper connections backward and I caught it just as it started smoking. That threw several new codes. He finished and made sure all was good by moving the truck in gear. Whole thing took about 30 minutes.
Might want to stick around while it is going on to “supervise”.

For those that ask why, if the recall can be solved via an OTA update, Ford lets dealers schedule to do it.

1) They are required to get the recall remedied as fast as possible. Dealerships always have the ability to update a module well before an OTA update is available.

2) Liability - if they said "wait for it", and you had an accident because of that, then it would be on Ford.

3) Excluding dealers is a no-no. This is an easy revenue source for a dealership, and Ford wants to keep them happy.

My tech said they have a quota of recall fixes per month and mine was their last one to hit it in February so they are pushing back new appointments for a few days to get on March metrics. I love corporations.

They reprogrammed mine today as well as the brake booster reprogramming. It's a 25. Software only.

Wondering if I have to swap back to the original shifter for this. I haven't had any modules updated after the swap, and I don't want to get crap from service.

I don’t have the rotary shifter but was shooting the shit with my tech during the update and he says it shouldn’t matter because it is Ford genuine part and he has seen a few already in his travels. He also said if I get stuck you can manhandle the GSM back up vertical if you are stranded, he has done it.
