Bricked at a stoplight, GOM said I had 15 miles of range, and then went down to zero in 60 seconds. I had taken this trip at least 50 times and always made it home even though I had less than 10% SOC, I made it the last few miles home with no issue even in the Michigan Winter. This time, my luck ran out. I will never let this GOM ever get below 25% again as obviously it is not reliable. $200 tow from local towing as Ford Roadside Assistance never sent the paywall link to me after contacting them. On the plus side, no issues after getting it home and charging it up. But do not trust the GOM PLEASE! I had to learn the hard way, that once under 10% SOC you're in "no man's land".

Had you done any DC fast charging earlier in the day?

I've routinely returned to my home on 2%, 1%, or even the other day 0%, with no issues... no turtle mode to slow me, nothing. But I also don't rely on the Guess-o-Meter since it is not well designed to predict these last miles - I only go by the SOC %... and, knowing that 0% is actually NOT really 0, it's just slightly Less-Than 1%... such as 0.8, etc.

This is not affected by whether I've DCFastCharged, or not.

Almost sounds like the battery hasn't been charged to 100% to balance the pack in a while.

Nope! I had charged it up to 90% 2 days prior and should've had 20-30 miles to spare from point A.

I used to make it under 10% for the last leg of this trip, and even drove on 5% before. But this last time my luck ran out. I often charge to 100% so that should not have affected my calibration. Once bitten, twice shy...

I often charge to 100%, about once per week, & I have made this trip many times and pushed the limits under 10% SOC but this time I was let down, and stuck in heavy traffic. It was embarrassing and disappointing to have everyone having to go around such a big "new" looking truck. Is it possible to use a gas generator with 240 output so as to charge from a level 2 charger in an emergency? Also, has anyone ever attempted to push a lightning by hand out of traffic?

In all sincerity. What makes you want to travel around at such a low state of charge? That is not a dis on anyone. A lot of my buddies seem to do the same thing with their ice vehicles. They let it run down until the red light glows brightly and it has always driven me nuts.

It has always made me wonder why.

Maybe you have a weak cell who knows, I don't put any faith into that GOM and keep mine charged to a minimum of 20%, no less.

There's a thread in here of someone using a portable gen to charge on the fly. Charge while driving is the name of it iirc.

I always arrive home from trips with 5% or even less.

You WILL get stranded if you keep pushing this. SOC and GOM are both estimates at best.
