Ambient Lighting Lariat

Hi everyone, Im reading mixed information if the Lariat ERs or the Lightning in general is provided with ambient lightning. I know it's advertised from Ford as if it's there. It's mentioned in the manual. However, people who have attended the events recently are indicating the feature has been removed and will not be included in the 2022s.

Can anyone confirm this is the case? Has anyone played with the ambient lightning in person recently?

I can confirm that it's missing on all the trucks at the SATX show and 3 different "product specialists" said it won't be on there.

I read that it's available, but it'll only be blue. Not multicolor.

Is it perhaps the cupholder and charging cubby that are maybe missing? Those would be the most notable during the day. I'm not sure you can see the others during the day - or perhaps none of them during the day.

I'm hoping they didn't truly pull it, but we know they did the cupholders in the ICE versions. There is still ambient lighting in their trucks and there is a guy making harnesses to add the cupholders. If the cupholders are identical to ICE then you can get the whole assembly with the light ring for $25, and then get the harness from him, can add them after delivery.

I've already ordered acrylic discs that carry the light and look pretty cool, they drop in the bottom of the cupholder. Should be here next Tuesday - I'll share pics and the source.

this ambient lighting reminds me of blockbuster and radio shack... old and beyond sell by date.

Lariat is a $70K truck smh... can't believe this is what i will get.

I'm sure Ambient Lighting will be included, but likely only in a few places like the footwell, maybe doors. All of those places, most notable the cupholders and cubby under the screen and likely the glove box are what is being removed on the ICE and I now expect the Lightning to follow that.

The good news is that if our cupholders are the same as ICE and if there is ambient lighting anywhere we can likely buy parts and retrofit what Ford shafted us for. Nothing like spending a few hundred on your truck to get what Ford seemed like they might give you in their pictures.

To the bottom line though, if you go read about Ambient Lighting in the order guide, etc - they only note Ambient Lighting - they do not list the places that it might exist like the cupholders. It gives them a 100% out for dropping it where ever they please. This is why all pre-production and demo trucks always come with an asterisk.

I did the same thing on my Model S. I did not have whatever lighting package that included puddle lights in the doors and footwell lights, but the connectors were still there. Just had to fish them out and slice a bit of vinyl to fit the lights. Further, a 3rd party came out with compatible lights that were brighter than stock. I am surprised to see such a rollercoaster of emotions in this thread for a feature like lighted cupholders, but I have my buttons too!

My boys love changing the colors of the lights in our Expedition. Since there will only be blue lights in the Lightning, I’d consider installing multi-color interior lights. There are lots of kits out there. Changing brightness and colors would be worth buying and installing a kit. They’re not coming from the factory, not too concerned.
