My wife has a Mustang Mach-E and at times I hate it. It is always complaining about this or that while driving. But not in remotely helpful ways, but in ways that make me want to crash it into a wall out of spite. For example when it starts engaging the emergency brake assist when backing out of my steep driveway, it ‘thinks’ it sees something and slams on the brakes. Nothing there. Just a steep driveway.

The same is true in the fast food drive through. Emergency brake alerts go of multiple times each time we go through for a burger. I am sorry but three car lengths isn’t a thing at the Burger King.

I have lessened the annoyance some by turning down the sensitivity (well I’ve at least avoided giving myself and others whiplash at McDonald’s) but I am really hoping i can just turn all this nonsense off on my F150L.

But I fear that won’t help, as on the Mach-E my emergency braking alert is simply replaced with a ‘backup assist disabled’ alert. Sigh. Can’t we not make our cool all electric cars just shut the hell up already? I don’t need my car to be a constant backseat driver.

What you describe has zero to do with electric cars.

The backup alert with a steep driveway is a known problem, the sensors see the driveway as a solid object that could be hit.

Never had any warning in a fast food line, not that I frequent them often. Perhaps pullng forward slower may help.

Trucks shouldn't have the steep in incline issue due to the sensors being higher, but I never driven one with sensors so not 100% sure.

The other scenarios, maybe it's your driving :) as in the two other cars I've had with brake assist, they've never activated outside of needing to activate which was only two times in 3 years.... 1. Forgot about Bike rake on back, 2. Testing self park and I forgot how it worked and it stopped me from hitting a car...

Other than your driving, see if common issue on mache , if not maybe your sensors are the problem.

I've had my Mach E for about 15 months and I haven't experienced the drive thru emergency braking even once. Either you have a sensor problem or your coming in too fast.

While I won’t rule out the possibility that it is my driving, I will note that I haven’t had so much as a speeding ticket in 20+ years so it’s not simply poor driving.

I am certainly pleased to hear that, aside from the steep driveway, my experience isn’t the norm. Maybe I’ll have the dealer take a peak at the sensors. They seem to report turning themselves off with the slightest sign of inclement weather, always off in rain or snow, so maybe there is a tolerance setting that is off.

Thanks for the feedback!

Steep driveways is a known problem as stated.....Also, look in the menu and turn off rear brake assist. That may help here.

As for the drive through issue......I have no idea. Are you using 1 pedal driving?
