Tesla is dropping the single motor and adding a quad-motor option for the Cybertruck. Elon Musk also confirmed Cybertrucks will have independent front and rear wheel steering (crab walk).

? Quad Motor Cybertruck and Crab Walk (Independent Front & Rear Wheel Steering) Confirmed!!
So long $39k truck. It's the ole Elon Bait n Switch. Nothing new..not surprising.

So 5 yrs from now perhaps maybe you can buy a $60k "truck" instead of the $39k truck you were promised in 2021...

Sounds like Tesla is trying to get people to stay interested instead of dropping reservations. Likely they are trying to get people really wanting them so when they announce their new 50%+ higher prices reservations aren't canceled in droves.

I think you're way too optimistic. It will never be less than $80K.
If the new tax credit is passed and if Elon want's his truck to qualify, it'll be under $80K.

As the saying goes: "If ifs and buts were candy and nuts, we'd all have a Merry Christmas". The simple thing is that cybertruck was planned without subsidy in mind and the first few years of production won't be eligible for it anyway. Tesla isn't marketing cybertruck to people who need a truck, but to people who have an extra $100K slushing around and want something new and weird. Same demo as Hummer.

Yes this Cybertruck is going to start at $60 to $70k with the "crab walk" version going close to $100k

I suspect they will introduce a $39k model for about 5 minutes, they will then pull it saying there isn't enough demand.

Tesla Fanbois still think there is a $39k CT which would be the cheapest Tesla available lmao

There isn't even an initial basic design form for the CT at this point. The prototype was a joke - the "exoskeleton" format and hard chines (sharp edges) with external stainless steel sheet construction wouldn't pass basic pedestrian safety standards in the EU or U.S., and the aspirational range specs depended on a new battery format that hadn't even been designed, much lest tested or verified for reliability. Now both LG and Panasonic are reporting significant manufacturing and reliability issues with initial trials. In April Elon said that he hoped the battery design problems could be resolved and volume production initiated in the next 18 months.

Both Tesla CT and Semi programs depend on the 4860 battery to get out of the box - so we are looking at a best case for the CT in 2023. I expect to be driving my Lightning for a couple years before having to decide whether to accept delivery of my CT reservation. Ford totally stole Tesla's thunder with its fast EV truck ramp - starting far later and getting a real deal truck out far sooner. Elon has admitted that to build the CT as envisioned at the intro would cost $1 million per copy. I am on my third Tesla, love the experience but there's a lot of PT Barnum in that guy. https://insideevs.com/news/525021/tesla-cybertruck-one-million-price/

Rivian is only real competition for F150. Tesla Cybertruck is a monster truck contestant. Something only the wildly ostentatious status seeker would buy.

F150EV, Rivian, GMC Hummer are the three on the “pickup” space for next two years.

At $100K, the Hummer is pretty ostentatious, it's just not as ugly as Tesla.

Depends on how aggressive Chevy is with the Silverado - could be out in 2024 at the end of of your window

it's a Hummer no more or less ostentatious than the original. For sure a status vehicle at $100k plus but it's also a functional small bed pickup.

The four motor (five by the time is ships?) is more the Landmaster from Damnation Alley.
