Starting a new thread forking off from the Forscan thread. I'm looking to eliminate the seatbelt monitoring system. This is the system that gives you a popup on the gauge cluster when someone in the backseat unbuckles their seatbelt. I drop off kids 3-4 times per day, and this pop up is stupid because it isn't paired with a weight sensor to determine if someone is actually in the seat, and it never goes away until you click OK, it will cover your gauge cluster for miles and hours if you leave it there. Someone in the forscan forum stated this could be turned off in settings, but I've been unable to find it. All of my screens are pictured below.

This is the pop up to eliminate:

here are all my settings. If I’m overlooking the toggle for this please point it out.

It's not exactly a setting, but you don't need ForScan to do it:

Deactivating the Ford F-150’s Belt-Minder™ Seatbelt Alarm Feature

This procedure walks through how to disable the seatbelt alarm on the Ford F-150. Please note that the driver and front passenger warnings switch on and off independently. In order to disable the seatbelt alarm for both, you will need to follow this procedure twice. Before Getting Started: Make sure that (1) the parking brake is set, (2) the transmission is in park, (3) the ignition is off, and (4) the driver and front passenger seatbelts are unbuckled.

  1. Without starting the engine, switch the ignition ON.
  2. Wait until the seatbelt warning light switches off (this will take about one minute).
Wait an additional 5 seconds before proceeding to Step 3.
  3. Choose which seating position you would like to switch off. Buckle then unbuckle the seatbelt 3x, ending in the unbuckled state.
Wait for the seatbelt warning light to switch on before proceeding to Step 4.
  4. Buckle then unbuckle the seatbelt one more time. The seatbelt warning light should flash to confirm that the operation was successful.
How Do I Re-Enable My Belt-Minder™ Seatbelt Alarm?

Once the Belt-Minder™ seatbelt alarm is disabled, you will be able to re-enable the feature by repeating the exact same procedure outlined above. Just as it is with disabling the feature, you will have to re-enable the driver and front passenger seatbelt alarms separately.

I don't think this is the same thing. I've used this to turn off the chime on the front seats, but I'm not sure it will work on the back seats. I will test this at lunch and report back.

Thanks for the input.

No luck using the belt-minder disable on the rear seats. I'm 99% positive it's a separate system. I did try unplugging the sensor from the bottom of the latch, and that resulted in a belt monitor error: service required message. A paperclip jumping it didn't help either. I'll have to go out with a meter tonight and measure the resistance across the pins and see if I have a resistor I can jam in the connector to disable the system.

Have you tried a seat belt extender ? I have these in my wife’s Subaru. We use them from the mail box to the house, 1/4 mile. They stay in all the time. Work great and they will fit my f-150. But I can’t talk the wife into riding in the back seat to try them. I’ll get one of the grand kids tomorrow, and give it a try.

Seatbelt extenders do work... but they are so big they dig into the kids side. I'm not overly large (6', 175lb) and they bothered me a bit. My halfling kids are only 4' and 70 lb, they can't cope with them. I think a resistor will work once I measure the open and closed resistance.

I measured the resistance on the latch side of the pins as 653K ohm. However a 650K resistor still resulted in an error screen. I checked the signal from the BCM and it was pulsing, so it looks like it might be some form of ICP or serial link between the two. Crazy complicated for a contact sensor. Maybe it’s time to head back to Forscan.
