We're taking a trip to high desert. Not quite off grid.
But no cell service ie cant use phones, google drive and maps etc.
Should have GPS signal of course, but will trucks Nav system still work?
For example does it have a local copy of US maps stored onboard?
Or is dependent on some other type of wireless network connectivity?
So far it has been awesome, on par with google.
My Mazda navigation sucked, particularly in remote areas, so I gave up using it.
Google maps has remote roads/trails like US forest service, fire roads, etc.
We shall see. I'll report back...if I don't get completely lost...lol
Ps anyone know if these OEM Hankooks can handle desert sand? Doubt it, but I'll find that out too.

I've used mine with no cell service and it seemed to work just fine.

Most people don't realize it, but for Google Maps you can download offline maps (obviously BEFORE you leave, while you still have an internet connection), for any area, and size of area you want. Then when you are in those areas, and spotty or no internet connection, Google Maps just uses the offline data automatically. Touch your Icon up on the far right side of the blank Search here bar at the top. Then hit Offline Maps.

OEM tires should handle sand just fine. 10 to 15 psi should do it.

Those tires work just fine in sand. We go to the sand dunes along Lake Michigan which is soft and deep and with 12psi they just float along. The only time we get stuck is when trying to climb the big dunes.

OK my brother in law and I did a test run this morning, went a few miles up the trail then turned around and came back down before it got too crazy.
Had a blast, truck was awesome. Cant wait to do more.
Couple of rookies learning, not quite total newbs. LOL. Suddenly all this talk about tire pressures, shocks, tire choice, recovery straps, rock crawl mode, make so much more sense.
Had to pull on turnout for a Raptor to pass that was haulin butt on way up. Headin down we had to back up on a section to let 2 Jeep Rubicon over landers pass by that were heading up.
Now I see why some folks go off road just to enjoy the ride and scenery.
