No scheduled departures and no remote climate activation (which wouldn’t precondition the battery anyway).

I stepped outside and heard the fans running. They stopped after a few minutes but I checked the app and it said it was preconditioning.

Ancillary facts: It is about 20 F right now. It also went into power save mode earlier today, so I turned it on for 30 min to hopefully top off the LVB. I haven’t driven it since Tuesday, but it has been plugged in the whole time.

Half the time I can’t get it to go into pre conditioning when I tell it to… I couldn’t get this lucky.

It's normal, the battery management system is just warming up the battery a bit in the cold. Mine does it a couple of times a day and night while parked and plugged in when it's cold, sub 25f from what I've noticed. It doesn't prepare the cabin but says that on the app.

I had the understanding it does this occasionally in colder weather to keep the battery from getting too cold. This is why the dash sometimes suggest plugging the truck in if you can when it's very cold out.

I believe @TaxmanHog pretty much confirmed that, but I wonder if it showed up as cabin and battery conditioning on the Ford App when it happened?

done with work!
Yes. Chicago and I was confused to see this too. I never have used departure timing.
One other odd thing,
The front louvers? open and close a lot two times when plugged into 120 charging in the driveway. It's 16F out and they do this often. Anybody else notice this. (I've seen them do this when it's warmer too)

Yes, this is yet another 'mixed message' in Ford App, the truck is doing a spontaneous battery conditioning operation, nothing to worry about.

Appreciate the confirmation.

On a tangent, I wonder if it would have warmed the battery had it stayed in battery save mode. 🤔

The several times I have witnessed the process or seen the evidence in my energy log's it doesn't last long typically 5 to 10 minutes and done, it just gets the temperature a minimum specification.

On the other hand, if you had an actual departure timed event pending the battery warming phase last longer to get the HVB warmer for a anticipated trip.
