You must get much better efficiency than we get in our GT. The Lightning will have 30 to 40 more miles. We only get about 220 - 230 on the highway.
I get 2.9 to 3.0 doing 73mph. 264 to 273 miles from 100 to empty. Of course most legs are 80% down to 10 - 20%, and that's only 164 - 191 between stops max unless we start at 100%.

I took the comments to be that Tom got 270 as compared to me getting the same with 100% battery, so no difference in range but big efficiency difference in driving a box down the road vs an SUV.

I would have taken the Lightning over the Mach-E had it worked out that way. Now, I'm thinking of keeping the 2022 Mach-E (sold our 2021) for maybe 18 months, ordering a 2024 Lightning or 2024 Explorer EV, with the anticipation that both will have notable range increases over today.

We only get 2.2 to 2.4 in warm weather driving between 72 and 75. 1.8 to 2.0 in the Winter. Surprised the GT (not GTPE) is so much less efficient. Only time we have gotten close to 3.0 is on secondaries between 45 and 55 mph.

Yikes. That's what I get in the winter.

Winter I have seen it as low as 1.4 if I don't precondition, but that is just for short drives. It comes up once it warms up.

It was good to see some confirmation on @OutofSpecKyle's numbers. 250@70 on the Platinum and 270@70 on the Lariat is exactly the difference that was expected between the two trims based on EPA. I see @tommolog is getting a Pro SR to test as well, that will be interesting. I'm curious if it does noticeably better on the mi/kwh.

This video inspired me. Last night I did a test and for around 40 miles I did 60mph of highway driving. I got 2.4kWh/mile. If I compared to OPs results (70mph = 2.0kWh/mile vs 60mph = 2.4kWh/mile) that means that...

To get some where 16% faster, it will cost you 20% more range. Approximately, it wasnt apples to apples testing. I am sure some physics expert can educate us on a formula to figure this out with an equation instead of testing.

That lines up about right (though it would be 17% faster - 16.666 repeating). You also have to consider safety on many highways with higher speed limited - if you drive 60 in a 75, you will not have a good time.

Given the choice, I would go 70.

If you really want your eyes opened, wait until you see the efficiency at 80! Rough scaling from your numbers should be ~1.2kWh/mi. ~40% more energy for going 14% faster (vs. 70)

Someone w/ Ioniq 5 did a "roll-down" test to predict range based on speed:

The result is the range based on various charge conditions.

Seems complicated, but maybe someone will do it w/ F150L. People said the data is accurate for AWD (it isn't accurate w/ my RWD).

B/C of the fast charge speeds w/ the I5, it's better to go faster (as fast as possible) than slower. This isn't always the case w/ the F150L and some other EVs.

Until you're forced to stop at a Missouri charger with 3/4 offline and the other running slow. Right now our chargers along I-44 are a mess. There is an argument for checking PlugShare in advance and targeting a certain one by stretching range in order to prevent a terrible stop.

I liked it that he was able to run it down to 2 miles remaining before getting to a recharge station.

Good data showing high speeds are detrimental to EV range.

I'll be hypermiling mine to go over 100% EPA range.
I plan to just drive like I always drove and enjoy the truck.

I did a few hundred miles at 80-85 mph a few weeks ago, mostly flat freeway, mostly leading/solo (not drafting). Efficiency was around 1.8
