FCSP with dedicated new service to detached garage!!

Today National Grid made the service connection to our detached garage, 240v x 200 amp service.

This not only simplified connection of the FCSP to a suitable power source (100 amp circuit) but also provides sufficient energy to my motorcycle [hobby] work shop. It's going to be toasty in the shop this winter while I finish the race bikes engine rebuild.

Once we were fully connected and live, it took some time to figure out the set-up process with the charge station set-up app. The first time it fired up the FCSP the app showed the EVSE broadcast network name, connection to it took a few minutes, then binding to the home WIFI took a few more minutes with a poor signal strength, with the aluminum doors open we squeaked in enough signal to establish to connection. I am waiting on an Xfinity Xfi-POD to arrive by mail soon, that should improve the signal dead zone.

The quirky point was getting the FORD-PASS app to link up WITH AUTOMATIC set up script stalled many times so I selected the manual setup process to configure the FCSP network name and factory password.

Once setup, I could look at the performance stats from the test charging session, I was already near 95% but commanded the truck to do a one-time charge set to 100% in preparation for a road trip Saturday morning, it did not take long for it to reach full, according the the truck it stopped at 99%, EVSE clicked off.

This is the current firmware version, if I'm behind several version, it might take a while to update until I get a strong signal in the garage, thinking of using my mobile phone hot-spot configured with the same SSID / PW so that I can get these patches sooner.

Our FCSP is alive it charged the Lightning for the first time today!!!

Looking forward to faster charges from now on and the mobile unit can return to the frunk for use on the road in a pinch.

Later this afternoon, my nephew finished the project by decommissioning the old 3 x 15 amp house feeders and connecting all garage loads to the new load center in the garage.

He removed all wire except on fishing leader so that I can repurpose the conduit for a CAT6 network feed to a computer in the bike shop.

You might think about a second wired router (mesh), instead of a computer connection for the CAT6 run, if you need WiFi in the shop.

A second mesh might be needed to bridge the gap, but I like data terminals (laptop/desktops) hard wired on my network, old dog treasury thinking that never dies, be it presently rational or not.

I hear you, having come from 3270, then Token Ring environments, and hard-wiring all of my houses starting with ARCNet

$613 which included the field tech time and 35 feet of line to the weather head.

I’ll repost my pics here. When I went fro..64 —-> .68 both apps showed new version number
now evse app shows .70. While fordpass app shows .68

That's exactly what I wanted to do, but unfortunately our provider (DTE) does not allow you to have two lines from the pole, then again, I never asked if I could have two services as in two bills, that might be an option....

That’s so weird. I actually deleted it out of ford pass this morning. Then reconnected it via the ford charge pro app. I still show 2 different version numbers.

@TaxmanHog what did you end up doing to extend your Wi-Fi signal to your install location? i ended up having to install an outdoor range extender. Also surprised at how long it takes to connect to the charger from the charge pro app when the charger and my phone are the only 2 devices on that Wi-Fi signal.

I have not done anything yet, the Xfi-pod is still in order processing with Xfinity.

But the signal strength between the garage and house appears to get better in the evening, it connects to the router and got the update.
