I know it's been posted MANY times, but the simple work around is a short interval timer and a heater.
Yes, the workaround exists, but it's still obnoxious and shouldn't be necessary. Would you accept such a kludge as a workaround in any other scenario? If your electric panel at home required you have a timer and heater connected to each circuit in your house to keep it from shutting the breakers off for no load after 5 minutes, would you just accept that as a normal thing?

Even better, that electric panel manufacturer didn't mention anything about this in the manual, and you only found out about it when you went to an online forum looking for info on why your breakers keep shutting off after 5 minutes. But hey, the forum told you about this workaround to keep the breakers from shutting off, so it's all good!

I just checked, and my 2022 has this feature. Thanks for the info, Brian!

Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate the detailed communication from Brian and especially the fact that ford is still backing software features to 2022 trucks (I doubt anything new will come to my 2025, but this at least gives me hope that they continue some level of development.) The 90w load thing is just a ridiculous limitation.

I know it's been posted MANY times, but the simple work around is a short interval timer and a heater. I have my timer set for 1 second on, and 220 second off with a 100 watt heater. In one second the heater hardly even gets warm so it's not really a safely risk. If needed, I can post Amazon links for the timer I bought.

Also note that it appears to actually be a lower limit than 100 watts. Because of an odd situation, I am almost always leaving PPO turned on with about a 50 watt load (measured). PPO stays on just fine. And as Heliion pointed out, it is rather energy inefficient leaving it on. Hopefully the reason for leaving it on will go away in a few days.
Would you mind providing the Amazon link? That sounds interesting for when road tripping / camping. Thank you!

Well, I appreciate the update. And also appreciate that Ford hasn’t forgot about the lightning in terms of software updates, and while I have added this long ago, It’s concerning that it took six + months to produce a configuration file update to add the feature.

Its also ridiculously inefficient to run a large inverter for such a low load. I have a power brick the size of a cibata bun I can charge things remotely then top it back off on truck power.
Let me explain why this approach is flawed: Tailgating with an instant pot. The pot draws plenty of power while heating up, then intermittently to keep pressure. Sometimes that's an hour-long cooking cycle before it switches to keep warm. If the truck decides there's insufficient load after the initial bringing up to temperature, the food will not cook properly. Yes, with the knowledge of this requirement, an old fashioned, inefficient 100 watt light bulb will become part of the kit for tailgating to ensure the cooking appliances with their intermittent loading, do not face a power outage.

Hey AI Brian ;).. Its nice this is finally rolling out. Just want to call this out, the speed for this update illustrates the issues with fords software updates. How did it take this long ? This is not a one off issue, this is the pattern and it kinda sucks.

Happy for the news.. but damn you guys have to get better at software.

Also please add a toggle to remove the minimum power draw requirement.

Also can be a user option.. so if someone care they leave it on.. if they dont flip the toggle.. it is software afterall.

Add the short interval timer linked a few posts above. Problem solved - at least until Ford does a more proper fix.
