I have an A2Z adapter for NACS to CCS and it faulted at 2 SC’s in a row. I tried two stalled the first time (new 350kW location) and 1 the second (250kW) at 2 separate SC locations in Southaven, MS. Both showed as open to non Tesla, 1st had a Kia charging successfully.
I moved on to a Charge Point and charged at a slower rate.
Has anyone had this issue? I am on a trip home to Louisiana for Thanksgiving from NW Tennessee. I have had no issue with the 250kW SC when I tried it in my home town.

You don't say if you're using Plug & Charge or not. If yes, verify your credit card is good. And then if it fails, use FordPass to activate the charger, then plug in.

If that doesn't work, setup a Tesla account and activate the charger via that, then plug in when it tells you to.

I have a Tesla account and followed instructions at the first location. I have plug and charge toggled on in my fordpass app. But do know if I have verifiable changed CC. Checking that now.

Had to re-verify my email with Tesla… it did show an error on that account due to that verification need.
Not seeing where to update my payment info in ford pass. Am I just overlooking it or should I go to the full website and not the app?

So that's why the first charge failed.

Website.

You should be able to adjust CC account in Ford App. (non-discounted rate)

Done and done… If the ford credit was the correct place to go. FC said it was 180+ days since I verified my identity.. looks like it was verification on both ends.

Keep in mind that if you want to use the Tesla membership (12.99) and get a 20 to 25% discount, you MUST use the Tesla app, not Plug & Charge or FordPass. Don't plug in until the Tesla app tells you to. And, ideally, disable Plug & Charge so it doesn't kick in if Tesla session fails.

You can sign up morning of trip, then immediately downgrade, takes effect in 30 days. With a Lightning, breakeven is less than 2 charging stops.

I have had issues with a couple of Tesla Superchargers. Specifically one in St. George, Utah and Mesquite, Nevada. I tried both the Ford adapter and an A2Z adapter. With the Ford adapter I got a notification of not charging and advised to try another charger. Same result. With the A2Z, I got the red circle on the charge indicators. It appears the problem was with worn Tesla plugs. In all of the cases, I was able to remove the adapters from the charge cable without pushing the release button. Once I found a charger where the adapter locked onto the cable, everything worked fine.

This is amazing information that I hope to never have to use - but I'm planning a ~2,000 mile road trip between Xmas and New years - might come in handy lol.

Thank you to all the knowledgeable/experienced folks that contribute here!!!!

One more note. Did you connect the A2Z adapter to the NACS cable and then plug into the truck, or did you plug the adapter into the truck and then plug in the NACS cable? Some people here have reported that only one of those procedures works. I know in my case, the first time I tried my brand new A2Z adapter on my three day old truck, I plugged the adapter onto the NACS cable and then into the truck and it did not work. Red ring error. Unplugged everything, and tried plugging the adapter into the truck and then the NACS cable into the adapter and it worked. I have used that procedure every time I have used a SuperCharger since and it has never failed. Some people report exactly the opposite.

Since you have both enabled, you also have to make sure you don't cause a conflict during initiation. If you're using the Tesla app, I try to take care to do these steps. I found it creates the most reliable start when not using PnC.

1) Pull up the app, load the stall I just pulled up to.
2) Initiate the charging on my Tesla app.
3) Attach the Tesla NACS to my Adapter - regardless of type.
4) Double check the app to make sure it's still in the activation stage and didn't fail/go back.
5) Now plug it into the truck.

I have unfortunately timed out and did a fall back on Plug N Charge when I didn't mean to. I have also gone through the steps too fast and initiated Plug N Charge before the app kicked in.

It's best to just disable it and save the troubleshooting if you don't truly intend to use it. On long road trips where I know I'll be pushing into the night (1-3am) ; I will just ignore the discount and use PnC. All other times I will actively disable it to prevent potential conflicts.

I went ahead and did this. To save the trouble. My fiancé does not drive my truck but gets anxious anytime the process is not 100% smooth and flawless.

cable to adaptor then adaptor to truck is how I have done it every time I’ve used a SC

Probably not the issue in this case, but worth noting that early A2Z Pro adapters (the single press release version) had a short pin problem and failed on all Tesla V4 dispensers. A2Z's support was superb - they replaced the adapter. The only thing is that they did not require you to return the original flawed unit. I've wondered how many of these adapters got re-sold on eBay without a disclaimer.
